REC News The Sacrament of Reconciliation Please pray for our students who have been preparing for the Sacrament of reconciliation and who will receive this beautiful gift tonight. May they continue to receive God s grace through this healing Sacrament. Reconciliation (also known in the past as Confession) is one of the 7 Sacraments of the Catholic Church. These Sacraments were initiated by Jesus Himself as a way for us to physically experience the love of God. They are visible signs of God s invisible grace. They are special physical encounters with God in which He gives us His grace and communicates with our souls. Jesus was in fact the first Sacrament because HE WAS GOD in visible human form. God was made flesh and dwelt among us. God is far too big for human beings to understand so He sent Himself in human form so that humans could encounter him in a very physical/human way and get to know Him and what He stands for through Jesus words and actions: Peace, love, compassion, forgiveness and mercy. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is all about God s forgiveness and mercy. As human beings we are not perfect (Jesus was the perfect human being) but God loves each and every one of us all of the time anyway. God doesn t stop loving us when we fail to be the best we can be, but we sometimes stop loving ourselves and others and God knows our human selves need a tangible experience of forgiveness and mercy to be put right again, to be at peace and start afresh. Jesus gave authority to His Apostles and the priests to hear confessions and forgive sins in His name. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; (John 20:23). When Catholics go to confession, they own their shortcomings, express their sorrow and ask for forgiveness. They hear the priest say they are forgiven and experience God s forgivingness, peace and grace. Pope Francis is particularly fond of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Among the Sacraments, certainly Reconciliation renders present with particular efficacy the merciful face of God. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a Sacrament of healing. When I go to confession, it is in order to be healed, to heal my soul, to heal my heart and to be healed of some wrongdoing, The famous psychiatrist Carl Jung was a great supporter of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. He believed human beings have an instinctual need to confess their offenses against themselves, fellowman, and God and that their sense of wholeness, integrity and community were impaired if wrongs were not confessed. He often recommended the Sacrament of Confession as part of his treatment.

School Fee Accounts As we are heading towards the end of Term 4 and the 2018 school year please ensure that your school fees account is up to date. School fees pay for your child s tuition and the general day to day expenses for the school and are vital in keeping the school running. They cover things like electricity, stationery, text materials, cleaning, gas and electricity, upkeep of the yards and gardens, phone, mowing, waste disposal and much, much more. If you do not pay your fees your children s opportunity to experience extra resources, performances and activities are lessened. If you would like to discuss your account, please contact Sarah or Belinda as soon as possible to work through payment options. We would appreciate it if outstanding school fees could be paid ASAP.
