Knights of Columbus Father Boecker Council No. 6090 Knight Light News May/June 2016 CHARITY UNITY FRATERNITY PATRIOTISM Worthy Brothers, Vivat Jesus! I trust all of you had a joyful and blessed Easter Celebration of Our Lord s Resurrection, and a productive Lenten season. We have many outdoor activities coming up in the next few months so let s pray that mother nature is on our side. A great big THANK YOU goes out to all who helped at the Festa and the Track Meet on April 23 rd. Special thanks goes to our chairman John Plotke and Ray Morello. May starts with Corporate Communion on the 1 st at Sacred Heart Church for the 11:00 am Mass. The 5 th is our business meeting and we will be giving out flowers on the 7-8 th at St. Pius X for mother s day. The 15 th is the Lilac Parade and picnic immediately following at Frank Cvach s house. The 19 th is our council planning meeting and all are welcome. The Special Olympics is May 21 st. See elsewhere for details. June starts with our business meeting on the 2 nd and Corporate Communion on the 5 th at St. Pius X for the 9:30 am Mass. Our planning meeting is on the 16 th. The 26 th is our Officer Installation dinner, see elsewhere in this newsletter for details. Elections are coming up on June 2nd and as in the past, our officers have been serving for two year terms. I would like to thank all of the officers for their service to our council. I am very proud of the council s success my first year as your Grand Knight, and hope we can continue the trend in the next year. We could use your help as many of the chairman positions remain open. If you are able to serve the council in a chairman s position, please contact me. We really need your help and ideas to make Council 6090 everything it can be. There will be a ceremony for installation of Officer s following the 11:30 am Mass at St. Pius X on June 26 th. All Officer s should plan on attending. If you have not been to a meeting in some time, please attend our next business meeting, May 5th, at St. Pius X church. We meet in the Martha room at 7:30 pm. I will have news from the 2016 Illinois State Convention of which I will be attending on April 29-May 1. If I can be of any help to you, please don t hesitate to contact me. Dues are now past Way OverDue We realize these are tough economic times and some people may be having difficulties. We also realize some members may be unhappy with the Council or feel we are not meeting their needs. If this is the case we apologize. We ask you to let us know what we need to do to help. We are here to help in any way we can, even if it is only with our prayers. PRAYER IS A VERY POWERFUL TOOL. Dues are important because the Council pays close to $10 per member to Supreme and State in per capita and other assessments. The Council pays these assessments from the dues collected; the remaining portion goes for operating expenses, like the printing and mailing of this letter, and many programs. Please, we ask you to pay your dues. It is with the help of your dues that we are able to do many of the things we do. Please, prayerfully consider your membership in the Knights of Columbus. You can make a difference. Please call Grand Knight Dennis Jensen at 630-629-1518 or Financial Secretary Paul Warda at 630-629-0154 with any questions. WELCOME Please welcome into our council our newest Brother Knight s Rudy Bianchi who took his major degree on January 31, 2016, Chris Leonard who transferred from St. Annes Council 2853 in Fairlawn, N.J., and Jason Sipple who transferred from Bradley University Council 14870 in Peoria, IL. All three are parishioners at Sacred Heart Church. Also please welcome Frank Birner and Ken Lebeau who took their first degree on March 31 and Bradley Schaub who transferred from Council 11664 in Lake LeeLanau, Mi. All three are parishioners at St. Pius X. Welcome to Father Boecker Council #6090. For the Good of the Order Please keep all Brother Knights, their families and friends in your prayers, especially for the following: the repose of the soul of Dick Watts wife Joyce, Dick Watts, Gerald and Mary Guertler, Ray and Dorothy Seranko, Frank and Geraldine Cvach, Ray and Dorothy Morello, D.
