Margaret Mead once said, That one should never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." This sentiment has been running through my head over the last month, as we were heading into Passover and then over this current break as a small and mighty community did in fact come together and made significant changes to our home. While the work is not yet finished (still some painting to be done, new fences, sail shades, handball court, parking lot slurry and more), so much was indeed accomplished and will be accomplished as the projects are completed over the next two three weekends. As a community we were blessed because we had. A meaningful, dedicated and focused fundraising campaign that helped us raise over $100,000 from within our school community. Thank you to every person who contributed to this phase of work being done, to the grandparents, parents, alumni and current students who gave of themselves in this way. Thank you also to the very thoughtful and meaningful matching gift from Ellie and Mark Lainer, which enabled us to get this work done. A committed group of parents that included Dani Freeman, Kim Freund, Alisa Vorobiof, and Stephanie Paliferrio, who shared their wisdom, passion and ideas when it came to scope of work, painting, landscaping ideas, and more. Wonderful parent volunteers who came on the first day of break and the last day of break to help prep the campus for the work that was to be done, and to clean-up and get campus ready for students to return. A talented contractor who assembled a wonderful and very dedicated group of workers, who came to our campus every day and showed it respect and care. An amazing leader in David Horenstein, who brought us talented professionals and who ensured they were focused, understanding that the scope of work being done was for the benefit of our children. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude and thanks for his time and energy to our school. Thank you to everyone and welcome back.
