Parents should be registered and active members of the Parish. SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY: The Bride and Groom should call the Parish Office at least six months before the date of the marriage. Please bring recent copies of your Baptismal certificate. Those under 21 should not set a marriage date until Diocesan permission has been obtained. PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: We want to assist those who cannot celebrate Mass with us because of illness, age or handicap. If you or a family member desires to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Anointing of the Sick at home or in the hospital, please call the PARISH OFFICE. In the event of an upcoming surgery, call the Parish Office to arrange a mutually convenient time for Anointing. By LAW, hospitals cannot notify us when parishioners are admitted. INSURANCE COLLECTION: On the weekend of November 10 th & 11 th, the second collection is to pay our annual parish insurance bill of $19,434.00. Last year we collected $2,985.00 for insurance. The resulting shortfall was paid using funds from our parish savings accounts. Please be as generous as you can. BOTTLE COLLECTION: Our altar server, Amelia Cappabianca and her 5 th grade class at Van Schaick School are collecting recyclable bottles and soda cans. The funds raised will be used to help pay for their class trip to Boston in May 2019. A collection box will be located in the church hall for your donations. This drive helps to fill the unmet needs for Catholic Charities clients living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses throughout the Diocese. Some of the items collected were laundry detergent, dish soap, household cleaning products; personal hygiene products (soaps, shampoo, deodorant, shaving items); paper products (bath tissue, tissues, paper towels); sheets (full & twin) and bath towels. Also donated by John and Michelle Frainier were many afghans they collected throughout the year. Your donations and support of this project is deeply appreciated by Catholic Charities. In return, each family will receive a loaf of blessed bread for their Thanksgiving Day dinner. Feel free to bring along your guests or a friend and introduce them to our way in starting out this day of thanksgiving in prayer and with joyful heart-warming music by the Kosek Family and Friends Band. FOOD PANTRY: Thanksgiving baskets. We are in need of boxed stuffing, canned cranberry sauce, canned yams and gravy - enough to fill 45 baskets. The number of families are increasing each month. In October, 111 families were served. Please place your donated items in the large box labeled food pantry in the Church stairwell here at St. Michael s. Our donated items are taken to the food pantry at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Cohoes. Thank you for your generosity that helps to continue this ministry. St. Michael's group provided the food, cooked the meal, served the meal and cleaned up after the meal. Approximately 90 people were served a hot meal of chicken legs, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, tossed salad, bread & butter and various desserts. SOUPER SATURDAY MOVIE NIGHT RETURNS! Our movie this month will be Mary of Nazareth. Mary of Nazareth is an epic motion picture on the life of Mary, mother of Christ, from her childhood through the Resurrection of Jesus. Shot in High Definition, it was filmed in Europe with outstanding cinematography, a strong cast, and a majestic music score. The film vividly captures the essence of Mary s profound faith and trust in God amidst the great mysteries that she lived with as the Mother of the Messiah, as well as her compassionate humanity and concern for others, and the deep love that she and Jesus shared for one another. The movie underscores her special role in God s plan for our redemption, her unique relationship with Christ, and the tremendous suffering that she endured in union with his passion and death, as well as her serene joy at his Resurrection. Movie night will be on Saturday, November 17 th immediately following the 4pm Mass. Soup, bread, beverages, desert and snacks will be served. Door prizes will be given away. This event is free. Please consider attending to enjoy some good food, fellowship and fun. A great way to prepare for Advent!
