My Brother Knights, I consider myself a VERY TRADITIONAL/ORTHODOX CATHOLIC who believes that many things were misinterpreted from Vatican Too Much. The following are some traditional rubrics of the Mass and a few others that some of us need to be made aware of. The article with some minor editing is by David Rummelhoff and appeared in the July 31 st edition of Epic Pew Epic Church. Epic Life. God Bless, James Preisendorfer Read More http://www.nhknights.org/index.php/en/state-council/632-20- things-you-might-be-doing-wrong-at-mass State Blood Drive Committee Report - Emile Anderson "The State Council has set a State wide goal FY2016-2018 of increasing the collection of blood state wide from approximately 10-12% today to 30% in 2 years. Working closely with the State Red Cross organization, we believe we can accomplish this through minor changes in our parish level events and better leverage of Red Cross resources for scheduling and marketing. To that aim, all GK's are request to have their local Blood Drive coordinators (BDC) contact the new State level Red Cross Blood Drive coordinator Emile Anderson (email: andersoner@hotmail.com or 401-578-4914) and provide the following info... 1. District (number), Council (number), affiliated parish and DD, GK and BDC contact info 2. Is your council currently conducting Blood Drives and if so how may do you do a year (including average collection amounts/drive)? 3. Are you using/registered with RC on their website platform including using Red Cross email DB to market/advertise? If so, is the Red Cross email DB consistent to parish email DB? 4. What is working and what is not in your drives (KofC and Red Cross control operations - both) including how you are keeping the experience on running drives in your Council - mentor, rotations etc? What is Blood Drive Coordinator current time in the position? 5. Do you have experience/affiliation with your local Public Cable Access TV to run RC service announcements State Ball Silent Auction This year's State Ball will feature a Silent Auction that was a great success last year. We are asking for item donations from the membership. All proceeds from the Silent Auction will deposited into Charity Fund. A minimum item value of $20.00 is requested. A display table will be set up in the hall during the State Ball with all the items on display. All members willing to donate an item should contact Ed McCann, PSD and State Ball Ticket Chairman with a description of the item and the estimated value. Ed can be contacted at emccann777@comcast.net or (603) 424-7185. Let's work together to make the State Ball a great success. The Ticket Chairman has sent tickets to all PSD s, Directors, Chairmen, District Deputies, Councils etc. and it is expected that we all support the activities of our State Council by our participation. + Insurance Delegate to the 133 rd Supreme Convention Report August 18, 2015 The 133rd Supreme Convention opened with a Concelebrated Mass by many Cardinals, Bishops, and many, many priests including two of our own State Chaplain, Fr. Aggie Jean and Fr. Richard Kelley from St. Christopher in Nashua and deacons. Held in the city of Philadelphia, the birth place of American Liberty at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Carl Anderson, Supreme Knight announced the theme of this 133rd Supreme Convention. "Endowed by their creator With Life and Liberty." Father Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus to financially protect Catholic families. This year for the 14th consecutive year, our program of "insurance by brother Knights for brother Knights" set a new record. We issued $8.24 billion in new insurance sales. This is a result of the hard work and integrity of our insurance agents. We are proud that the Knights of Columbus was again recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as a 2015 World's most Ethical Company. The knights of Columbus is one of only three recipients honored in the Life Insurance Category this year. For the 40th consecutive year the Knights of Columbus earned A. M. Best's highest rating of A++ (Superior). We also continue to place among America's largest companies ranking 939 on this year's Fortune 100 list. Our assets grew 4.5 percent last year to more than $21.5 billion. Our surplus ratio is 11.1 percent, which is consistent with the average for the top 25 life insurance companies. Our insurance in force reached $96.7 billion, an amount that has more than doubled in the last 12 years. Last year, our insurance in force grew by $4.1 billion. We issued 73,000 life certificates last year, surpassing our closest fraternal benefit society competitor by more than 30,000. Our success continues to outpace the industry, our insurance premiums increased 3.7 percent more than doubled the industry rate of 1.8 percent. Our annuity deposits were at $531.6 million. We paid more than $290.5 million in dividends to our life insurance contract holders. We have over 2 million certificates in force. Every day our professional agency force of more than 1,500 brother Knights helps Catholic families plan for their financial future. These brother Knights serve only Knights and their families, they share the commitment of every Knight to our Order's principles. I want to thank my brother Knights, delegates to our Annual State Convention voting for me to represent the New Hampshire State Council as the insurance delegate. Anna and I had a wonderful time. Donnelly Charles J Murphy Vice Supreme Master Master Massachusetts District The Adventure and Crisis of Marriage Gilbert Keith Chesterton wrote The whole pleasure of marriage is that it is a perpetual crisis. Nowadays, there is a new crisis in the crisis of marriage that is hardly a source of pleasure because it is an identity crisis. The challenge is to refrain from despairing over the institution of marriage by remembering, with Chestertonian optimism, that marriage cannot be destroyed. Though marriage can be called gay, it cannot make marriage any less gay (in the true sense of the word). Marriage is perpetual, even if it is a perpetual crisis, and that is something to take pleasure in. What God has enjoined, no man can put asunder. And though days are dark, Catholics must arm themselves with that joy Chesterton called, the joy of giants, the joy without a cause. Deputy Supreme Knight Logan Ludwig said that the greatest value of the Knights of Columbus is the difference that we make to our members, our communities and our parishes. The meeting focused on making Knights of Columbus council and membership attractive to prospects. Supreme Director Paul Lambert ked a discussion on making a lasting impression through the First Degree and also focusing on Star Council status. Supreme Director Tom Harger followed with a discussion on the need to nurture newly developed council to grow and earn Star Council status. Tom Smith, Chief Insurance Officer emphasized the need for cooperation between the fraternal and agency sides of the Order for the mutual success of both. The seminar ended with the debut of the Oder s new membership recruitment video. On Monday night the Convention Pin Swap took place. This was unique as the New Hampshire State Pin was designed by New Hampshire Special Olympics athlete Kyle Massie. The New Hampshire Delegation spent the time visiting the many hospitality suites, exchanging pins and making new friendships. Tuesday August 4, 2015 The Tuesday opening Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Charles Chaput. There were more than 2000 Knights of Columbus in attendance. The clergy was represented by eleven cardinals, 98 bishops and 100 priests from many countries. After Mass, Archbishop Chaput inaugurated the Knights of Columbus new Holy Family Prayer program, which features an etching of the Holy Family the by the eighteenth century artist Giovanni Belestra. While the Order s state deputies held framed copies of the image, the archbishop blessed and dedicated them. I was honored to participate in this service. These images will be the focus of prayer services to be conducted in councils over the next few years. The Supreme Knight gave his report on the State of Order that was very impressive. This report is very detailed and can be found on the Supreme website. The States Dinner was held on Tuesday evening. The invocation was presented by His Eminence Gerald Cyprien Cardinal Lacroix the Archbishop of Quebec Primate of Canada. He asked for God to teach us to be instruments of peace and justice where we live and work and that we be renewed as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.
