Maryknoll depends entirely upon the interest, prayers and support of its friends. While at the parish, Fr. Pope Francis 2014 St Vincent de Paul Society November 8-Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time: In today s Gospel Jesus tells us: I want you to observe that this poor widow contributed more than all the others who donated to the treasury. They gave from their surplus wealth, but she gave from her want, all that she had to live on. Ask yourself Am I only giving from my surplus wealth? and then put your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul poor box so that those who are suffering will be able to know God s love and care. OUR DONATION BOX IS LOCATED IN THE BRICK PILLAR UNDER THE PICTURE OF ST. VINCENT de PAUL Prayers and Cookies Needed Prayers are again being requested for Kairos Prison Ministry at Putnam Correctional Institution in Palatka, Nov. 12-15th. Your prayer can take any form such as the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, reading the Bible, praying the Rosary, or Divine Mercy Chaplet. Sign up in the Narthex for any of the 30 minute increments. Please bring them to the parish office by November 10th Month 2: "Hi". I am still growing really fast. I already weigh as much as a paper clip and at this rate I will weigh as much as a grey whale when I am born --my poor mom! Oh, yeah...those things growing out of me turned out to be arms and legs with fingers and toes. Wow, there is so much stuff inside me right now I can't believe it. My skin is see-through so I can watch my heart, stomach, liver and kidneys working--kind of like a little factory. I can swallow and suck my thumb. I think I am bigger now than I was two minutes ago! Help Keep our Narthex Clean Please place your donations INSIDE of the donation box. Thank you Giving Tree ANGEL ALERT! Page 6 November 8, 2015 Faith Formation Formation Center Renovations Phase 2 We are excited to have begun the second phase of our renovations to the Formation Center. This phase includes ADA compliant bathrooms and a new entranceway to safely greet our youth and adults. In this phase, the Siena Room will be renovated to be similar to the other redesigned rooms in the Formation Center, so that we will have a total of eight 30 x30 classrooms in which we can hold Religious Education and other meetings. Another smaller waiting area with adjoining bathroom will be created for parents waiting for their children. This meeting room will also serve other prayer groups that need an ADA bathroom nearby. The additions to the Formation Center will increase the safety and protection of our children who are entrusted to our care. It will also improve the functionality of our building for all of our events, including the annual bazaar. We hope that these renovations will demonstrate the commitment we have to the spiritual formation of our children, youth, and adults, as we continue to proclaim the Gospel message to all our people in new and engaging ways. Christmas Neighborhood Outreach This Christmas, we are reaching out to all of our actively registered parishioners with a special Christmas gift and offering information about all of our evangelization programs in our parish. We are in need of donors to offset the cost of these gifts, as well as people to help pack gift bags. We will have a bag stuffing party on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 9:30am. We need many hands to pack the gifts for delivery to all parishioners the following week. We also need 100 volunteers who will help deliver these gifts two by two, like the early disciples. Our goal is to reach out to all who call St. Catherine their parish home as they prepare for Christmas. For more information and to volunteer or donate, e-mail Vincent Reilly at vreilly@stcatherineop.com. Kerygma Update Our 60 participants and 20 team members have completed the post-evangelization sessions as part of the Kerygma Evangelization Retreat. They have been commissioned into six evangelized communities that will meet twice a month to share the Word of God and their continued growth in making Jesus the Lord of their life. These communities encourage one another to live according to the way of the early Church recorded in the Acts of Apostles. Our next Kerygma retreat will be April 12-17, 2016. The pre-evangelization sessions will be on Mondays beginning March 7 at 7:00pm. Religious Education SAINT JOSEPH OF CUPERTINO: Patron Saint of Aviators, Flying and studying St. Joseph was born at Cupertino, in the diocese of Nardo in the Kingdom of Naples, in 1603. After spending his childhood and adolescence in simplicity and innocence, he finally joined the Franciscan Friars Minor Conventual. After his ordination to the holy priesthood, he gave himself up entirely to a life of humiliation, mortification, and obedience. He was most devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and promoted devotion to her among all classes of people. He grew more humble and gentle. Although he was very good, he still had a hard time with studies. The examiner happened to ask him to explain the only thing he knew well, and so he was made a deacon, and later a priest. After this, God began to work many amazing miracles through St. Joseph. Over seventy times, people saw him rise from the ground while saying mass or praying. Often he went into ecstasy and would be completely rapt up in talking with God. He became so holy that everything he saw made him think of God, and he said that all the troubles of this world were nothing but the "play" battles children have with popguns. St. Joseph became so famous for the miracles that he was kept hidden, but he was happy for the chance to be alone with his beloved Lord. On His part, Jesus never left him alone and one day came to bring him to Heaven. Pope Clement XIII canonized him in 1767. For more information watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vowxmvv4quu Reminder There will be a practice for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation Sunday, November 15 th at 1:30 in the church. All are expected to attend.
