Mark your calendars now! Grand Knight s Column From your Grand Knight: Worthy Knights and spouses, have a happy Fourth of July and a wonderful summer to come. With our summer hiatus of monthly meetings for July and August please don t forget our burger night and other events that take place at the KC Center. Watch your monthly newsletter for these events and please participate in them as they are a critical part of our long term goal of building unity and sharing our friendship with others. When you come to these events remember to bring along a friend or two, show them around and explain what we do as members of the Knights of Columbus. Behind the bar area are some leaflets that give some specifics about Council 722so please grab a copy or more and give them out as you take pride in our efforts to continue the mission of our founder, Father Michael J. McGivney of New Haven, Connecticut, in 1882. It originally started out serving as a mutual benefit society for working class and immigrant Catholics in the United States but has developed over the years into a fraternal benefit society dedicated to providing charitable services, promoting Catholic education and Catholic public policy positions, and actively defending Catholicism in various nations. It seems every day we hear or read about the persecutions of our Catholic and Christian Brethren around the world, and with the efforts of The Council 722 Food Drive is ongoing. Please bring your nonperishable items to meetings and burger nights. Cash donations are also accepted. the Knights of Columbus, pressure is being applied both worldwide as well as locally to support those in need. So with that off my mind enjoy your summer, share your love with your families and friends, don t get sunburned, and try and stay dry. See you in September at our next monthly meeting. GK Lawrence (Larry) Lenhardt LLenhardt@aol.com Your Field Agent Chaplain s Column Brother Knights and Families, Hope to see you and your family at the July 13th family picnic on the grounds of the Sheboygan A s stadium. Even if you are unable to stay for the game, join us for the picnic. I am sure that there is more information in another article in the Newsletter. The month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus. The following is taken from a Trinity Communications website. Since the 16th century Catholic piety has assigned months to special devotions. Like the Sacred Wounds of Jesus. His Precious Blood deserves special honor because of its close relation to the Sacred Passion. That honor was given to it from the beginning by the Apostles who praised its redeeming power. In recent times the devotion has been encouraged by the founder of the Congregation of the Precious Blood of Jesus. When Pope Pius IX was in exile from Rome in 1849 the extended feast to the whole Church was celebrated on July 1st until 1969. When we were allowed to receive Communion under both forms, along with other liturgical changes from the Second Vatican Council, the feast of the Precious Blood was joined to Corpus Christi. That feast is now called the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus. Although July 4th is passed, we are encouraged to use the entire month for reflection on the freedom we enjoy and never take it for granted. I hope that you will save this prayer and pray it often not only during July but other times as well. Prayer For Our Country Pope Francis Prayer Intentions for July Vatican City, 1 July 2017 (VIS) The Holy Father's prayer intention for July is: Lapsed Christians That our brothers and sisters who have strayed from the faith, through our prayer and witness to the Gospel, may rediscover the merciful closeness of the Lord and the beauty of the Christian life. Gracious Father, source and grace, grant to our country Your divine aid. In this land of blessings you have drawn men and women of many nations and gathered us together under one flag. You guided our first leaders to establish a nation based on truth and justice. Through many years, O Lord, we implored Your help and guidance, we upheld the laws which you planted in our hearts and revealed to us through your Word. We recognize, O Lord, that we have strayed from the way You have pointed out to us and lead us back. Help people know again Your truth and follow Your way. Be our life, that we may be Your light in our world. Through Christ our Lord, Amen

(continued from previous page) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it ways in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Continue to have a Blessed Summer, Fr. Dick Fourth Degree News From Your Faithful Navigator ` Sir Knights and Ladies, Sincere thanks to John and Sue Zalewski for guiding our Assembly over the past two years. Thanks as well to the officers who have served with us. Special thanks to my wonderful wife, Jackie who has journeyed with me through the KC adventures since I joined in 2006. She has been my steadfast supporter. The next adventure has just begun. Also thanks to all the Ladies who join us. The men make the ceremonial promises, but it is the Ladies who support and enable us to do the work. Sir Knights, as Archbishop Listecki has said, Jesus is Our King, and a King deserves Knights. As Fourth Degree Knights you serve at the highest level of the Knights of Columbus. Thank you for your Ministry and Service. Looking forward, we have welcomed some new faces to the elected offices. This holds the promise of new ideas and possibly new programs in the future. We will begin meeting monthly as officers in August to discuss our business. We welcome Color Corp Commander Tim Woodworth who will bring new ideas and energy to the Honor Guard. As we head into the new Fraternal Year, I ask our Assembly members to think of new community organizations to support, possible new fundraisers, and new ways to support our heroic law enforcement officers and firefighters. As always, we will continue to serve our faith community and will remember our Veterans and those currently in service. Our next Assembly meeting will be held at the KC Center on September 20th. Thank you for the great honor of becoming Faithful Navigator. I will do my best to serve the Assembly well. Eucharistic Holy Hour Due to St. Clement Renovations Holy Hour will occur at Holy Name at times in July.
