Worship Service Prelude Welcome and Announcements Silent Reflection and Meditation -Psalm 2, Geneva Psalter (1539) Pastor Barry Linda Runkles Call to Worship Psalm 113:1-3 *Gathering Hymn The Church s One Foundation #270 Confession of Faith Q. Why was it required that the Mediator should be man? A. It was required that the Mediator should be man, that He might advance our nature, perform obedience to the law, suffer and make intercession for us in our nature, have a fellow feeling of our infirmities; that we might receive the adoption of sons, and have comfort and access with boldness unto the throne of grace. Q. Why is He called God's "only begotten Son" when we also are God's children? A. Because Christ alone is the eternal, natural Son of God. We, however, are adopted children of God - adopted by grace through Christ. -Westminster Larger Catechism, Q.39, Q.33 Confession of Sin Psalm 130 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy. If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with Him is plentiful redemption. And He will redeem Israel from all his iniquities. Assurance of Pardon Micah 7:18-19 Please turn off or silence your cell phone. *Those who are able please stand. 1

Invocation *Hymns of Praise O Love that Will Not Let Me Go Words: George Matheson. Music: Christopher Miner Praise Team O Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee; I give thee back the life I owe, That in thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be. O light that followest all my way, I yield my flickering torch to thee; My heart restores its borrowed ray, That in thy sunshine s blaze its day May brighter, fairer be. O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee; I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain, That morn shall tearless be. O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee; I lay in dust life s glory dead, And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be. How Great Thou Art 2

Carl Boberg-1885 O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the works Thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder Thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed. Chorus Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou Art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou Art! And when I think that God His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in. That on that cross my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. (chorus) When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow with humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art! (chorus) *Reading of Scripture Luke 3:21-38 21 Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased. 23 Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli, 24 the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph, 25 the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai, 26 the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Josech, the son of Joda, 27 the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri, 28 the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmadam, the son of Er, 29 the son of Joshua, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, 30 the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim, 31 the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David, 32 the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Sala, the son of Nahshon, 33 the son of Amminadab, the son of Admin, the son of Arni, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah, 34 the son of 3

Focus on Missions Carroll County Young Life Carroll County Young Life staff and volunteers have been walking alongside kids in middle and high school, helping them grow in their faith. Through weekly meetings called club, small groups called Campaigners, summer camps, weekend excursions and one -on-one time with kids, Young Life leaders build unconditional relationships with teenagers. Kids lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God s love with them. Because their leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose. This is the first step of a lifelong journey; the choices they make today, based upon God s love for them, will impact future decisions careers chosen, marriages formed and families raised. Carroll County Young Life s multicultural ministries focuses on kids in diverse cultural communities. They reach out to kids with disabilities through Capernaum and work with teen moms through YoungLives. Carroll County Young Life presently ministers in the following high schools: Liberty, South Carroll, Century, Westminster, Winters Mill, Francis Scott Key, and Manchester Valley. Prayer Requests: For more leaders needed in the high school clubs (particularly at Century HS, Liberty HS, Manchester Valley HS) For continued growth of Capernaum (kids w/special needs) Campaigner Bible Study started this fall. For increased involvement of HS Campaigner kids with the Capernaum ministry. 9

For more teen moms to connect with the YoungLives ministry and with the trained mentors Young Life has waiting to be connected with them. Also pray for continued development of relationships between the two teen moms presently involved and their mentors. 10
