A lot has happened during the past twelve months that you should be very proud of. You have donated thousands of dollars to local and catholic charities. You have spent many hours of your valuable time volunteering your dedicated service to the needy and less fortunate in our community. You have worked tirelessly at the St Anne Charity Bingo bringing thousands of dollars into the Church. Our council benefits from these efforts, for without your volunteer efforts we would not be in a position to do what we do and council 6695 would be a very different council. Thanks to you guys we make a difference to so many lives in the church and in our community. This first year as Grand Knight has been a wonderful experience for me. Thank you for your support. I have been privileged to serve the council in this position. I have seen you all grow even tighter together as brothers. Strong new friendships have been formed. New members have invigorated our council under the guidance and support of our existing brothers they have started to make a positive difference to our council. Membership attendance has been up both at our business meetings and at our wonderful social events. This year was the Tennessee State council s drive for stewardship. This was one of my main messages to you this year, it was great to see it all happen. We have indeed passed on a lot of our knowledge and skills to our new members and officers so that in the future they can drive this council forward toward a better future. The message from Tennessee state council is simple look to the new members to take all their degrees to become 3rd or 4th degree members, teach them, encourage them, pass on your knowledge and experience to them so that they can become our future leaders. It is with our new active members that we will move forward over the next 10 to 20 years, so start now by both recruiting our young catholic men to join us in our crusade for charity, unity and fraternity and to train our recent members in the workings of our council. Grand Knight Tony Fitton I am running again for the esteemed position of Grand Knight. I encourage you to vote for me again. I will again work tirelessly to support our charitable causes. I will again help educate and develop our future leaders. I will again represent you well at State programs and events. I will again represent you well in the media and our community. Most of all I will again be your friend and brother in Christ standing side by side with you when times are both good and bad. May God bless you all and the work you do for our council. Vivat Jesus Tony Fitton. Grand Knight.

Knights Newsletter Chaplains Corner Fr. Tim Keeney Chaplain Dear Brothers, As the Church ends this Year for Priests this June 11th, I want to thank the Knights for their constant support of me and of all priests. This year the Council has helped to support the ongoing formation of our clergy with your financial generosity. This year you also have supported Chris Hess in his priestly vocation with your example as you have each of the seminarians who have been assigned to St. Anne for a pastoral assignment. You also supported me in so many ways as pastor and as Chaplain. The relationship between the Knights and their priest is not, however, something just for one year of celebration. The Knights have a long tradition of not only supporting their parish, but also of the priests that serve those parishes. Please encourage your children and grandchildren to consider the priesthood. I truly believe that God is constantly calling men to his altar. Our society does not support the gift of self that is involved in priesthood. Our church desperately needs the Catholic laity to once again support the vocation of priesthood as a viable option for their young men. This is an amazing time to be a priest. It is precisely because the life is not supported by the larger world and sometimes mocked that the priesthood needs men who are called to a heroic gift of self. The seminarians we have today and the priests who now are in ministry have been given the vocation of living the priesthood with a renewed sense of purpose. As I have said before, the priesthood is not the central aspect of the Church, but Church is never healthier than when there is a strong vibrant priesthood. Pray for vocation. Talk about the priesthood in ways that edify. Encourage young people to think about the priesthood. Continue to live out the Knights ministry to support priest beyond the close of this Year for Priests. I hope you will be able to come to the parish Friday, June 11th for our Evening Prayer to close the Year for Priests. We will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will have about 12 priests in attendance. In Christ, Fr. Tim Keeney Vocations - Keep the faith alive Founded by a parish priest, the Knights of Columbus has always worked hard to encourage young men and women to consider God s call to service in the priesthood or religious life. Under the motto Keep the Faith Alive, the Order s vocations initiative has a number of programs based on prayer and designed to reach the hearts and minds of young people, as well as to provide financial support during their years of seminary training or religious formation. Although the focus of the Order s vocations programs is on encouraging men to consider the priesthood or religious life and women to consider religious life, it also includes films on the lay vocations to underline the fact that everyone is called through their Baptism to serve God, the Church and their neighbors. The heart of the Order s vocations effort continues to be the Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) by which assemblies, councils and Squires circles provide monetary and moral support for seminarians and postulants who are preparing for the priesthood or religious life. The officers work hard volunteering countless hours organizing and running the council through the year. They attend meetings and conventions such as the State Convention, State kick off meetings, mid year state meetings, district meetings, monthly officer meetings, business meetings etc etc They also have a big say in how the budget is set and what programs and events we do through the year. It is important that the council officers we elect are of the highest caliber and have the ability, knowledge and skills to both execute their office and also represent you at both council and state levels and in the church and community. Brothers PLEASE ATTEND THIS MEETING and help elect your officers for the coming term. We look forward to seeing you there! Knights Newsletter Supreme Knight Pilgrimage to Poland Supreme Knight Carl Anderson joined an estimated 100,000 pilgrims at the annual Pilgrimage of Men and Youth to the Shrine of Our Lady of Piekary Śląskie in southern Poland. In remarks at the end of the Sunday Mass, Anderson recalled the great truth taught by Pope John Paul II: To be human is to be a pilgrim, constantly drawn to the Father, by the Father s love. Pilgrimages have been taking place at the shrine since the mid- 17th century. When a painting of the Virgin Mary was moved from the side of the church to the main altar, many miraculous healings were reported to have occurred among local residents. When an outbreak of the plague occurred in 1676, Jesuit priests encouraged their parishioners to make a pilgrimage to Piekary and pray. New Members We pledge to pass on the stewardship of our council to the new members and officers Our recent new members pictured here left to right are; Tom Heibel, John Allsteadt, Rick Morrell Jeff Cochrane and Donald Keene. Since this picture was taken Tom Heibel and Donald Keene have gone on to become 2nd degree members. Please make them feel welcome and pass on to them your full support and knowledge so that they can learn all about our council. Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth. Page 4
