Hello fellow Parishioners of Ascension and St. Bernard, Wow, what a difference a month makes this time of the year. Before we know it all this snow will be gone and field work will start. Spring is my favorite time of year. Everything is waking up from winter s rest. The air is warming up and everything turns green again. You see new baby animals everywhere. It s God s rebirth of nature. How do we keep our faith alive? And how do we bring our belief in Jesus and our Catholic faith to our family, friends, and into the world around us? Do you make a commitment to participate in weekly (maybe daily) Mass, prayer and the sacraments? Do you engage in the activities offered at our parishes Lenten Stations of the Cross, Adult Bible studies, Children s Faith Formation, Women s Fellowship, Catholic Watchmen, Knight s of Columbus, to name a few? Do you participate in our fellowship opportunities bingos, breakfasts, fish fries, etc.? These are some of the ways we build our church communities and share our faith with each other. One of the primary goals of our newly formed Joint Mission Team (JMT) is to work on ideas and formulate new ways that we can reach out and evangelize to each other and within our communities. Currently they are looking at the Sunday Mass Experience and looking to bring all the individual ministries that participate in the Masses together to fully appreciate the importance of their rolls and see if there are ways we can improve on the overall experience of the Mass. They will also evaluate ways we can do things the same at both parishes to make it easier for our priest. A small group from the JMT is also looking into the Alpha program to see if it may be an evangelization tool we feel will work for our parishes. This may give us a different platform to introduce people to the Good News of Jesus. More to come on this as they finish their evaluation process. If you have any other ideas or input on ways you feel we can increase the evangelization efforts at our parishes, please do not hesitate to contact any one of the JMT members, the Trustees or the parish office.
