Their mission is to lift up the fallen, strengthen the weak, encourage the fainthearted, guide the lost, and provide a caring, safe refuge. Their goal is to provide the necessary tools, resources, and support to gain stable living conditions in an atmosphere of dignity, integrity, and respect. May God bless your celebrations. YOUTH GROUP: The Youth Group meets this Tuesday, February 18th from 7 9 pm for a regular night. All youth high school age and older are welcome. See you Tuesday!! ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING: The Annual Congregational Meeting is coming up this Tuesday, February 18th at 7:30 pm. An information package was put in your mail slots including the Agenda, Financial Statements, the Minutes from last year s meeting, and Committee and Ministry Reports. If anyone has any items, they would like added to the agenda, please speak with the Chair of Council, Dick Bulsink, before the meeting. Council encourages you to attend this meeting to hear about the ways God is moving in our church and to review and discuss the 2019 Budget. See you there! Saturday Morning Breakfast - Join us for a men's breakfast/study. We are going to aim to meet on the last Saturday of the month. Breakfast starts at 7am in the church. We will be working through the book "Thirty Virtues that Build a Man" by Vince Miller. This study is open to all men from high school up. So bring your dad, bring your son, bring your neighbour, bring your brother. But please also sign up so we have enough food. First breakfast is February 23, 7 am. We aim to be done by 8:30. Sign up sheet outside the office. SOUP AND BUN POTLUCK: Join us for a Soup and Bun Potluck after the morning service today Sunday, February 17 th. Each family is asked to bring a pot of soup to share. Buns, drinks, and dessert will be provided. Plan to stay for lunch and a great time of fun and fellowship together. GEMS PANCAKE SUPPER: The GEMS will be hosting a Pancake Supper on Tuesday, March 5 th beginning at 6:00 pm. They will be serving pancakes, sausages, salad, coffee/tea, juice and dessert. Come out and support the GEMS at their Pancake Supper Fundraiser. The cost is on a donation basis. All proceeds go to an International Sister Club. PASTA DINNER AND AUCTION: The Wallaceburg Christian School is hosting a Pasta Dinner and Auctions on Saturday, March 2 nd at the Wallaceburg Christian Reformed Church (150 Bruinsma Ave). Doors will open at 4:30 pm, with dinner being served at 5 pm. We will offer several different types of pasta (chicken alfredo, pasta with red sauce, lasagna and a gluten sensitive option), plus fixings and dessert. The silent auction will run through dinner, and the live auction begins at 7 pm. This is an opportunity for a night out, so adults only, please. Cost is on a donation basis; anything over $35 per person is eligible for a tax receipt. COUNCIL NEWS FROM FEBRUARY 13, 2019 1. Council adopted the new council nomination timeline. Council is asking the congregation for nominations for office bearers, for 2 Elders and 2 Deacons. Retiring Elders are Rob Kraayenbrink and Jeff DePooter retiring Deacon is Nick Dykema. Please prayerfully consider who you feel are gifted for these tasks. Please submit your signed nominations to any member of council or place it in the council mail slot. For your convenience, a table is provided at the end of the bulletin that you may use to submit your nominations before the next council meeting. The date of the next council meeting is March 13, 2019. Please have all nominations to council before March 13th. Thank-You so much. Please note: nominations are not limited to the 4 spots on the form in the bulletin. 2. Council approved the Church Visitor Report received from our Church Visitors Pastor Tim Luimes and Elder Henry Taekema. 3. Council shared a time of Mutual Censure together. Mutual Censure is a helpful and encouraging time as Council reflects on how they are doing as office bearers. 4. Council approved paying 90% of the registration fee for 4 counsellors to attend the GEMS Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan in July. 5. Various church bookings were approved. 6. The next Council Meeting is March 13, 2019. Family Faith Formation Tip - Doubts aren t a sign of weak faith they re evidence that people are wrestling with big questions. Other workshops include Circle of Grace Abuse Prevention curriculum, policy and legality, cyber-bullying, and detection and prevention of suicide. The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada s recent research study -- Renegotiating Faith: The Delay in Young Adult Identity Formation and What It Means for the Church in Canada will be the focus of an evening conversation at Redeemer University College (cosponsored with CRC Faith Formation Ministries). The report s lead researcher and author, Rick Hiemstra, will present an overview of the report s findings and recommendations, followed by a panel of experts moderated by FFM s Dr. Syd Hielema. The evening will provide a clearer understanding of young adult faith lives and suggest specific steps to take for congregations and families as they walk with young adults. The evening is intended to support church leaders, parents, teachers, young adults and teenagers. Wednesday, March 6 at Redeemer, 7:30 9 pm. This event is free.
