COUNCIL 524 CHAPLAIN Dear Brother Knights Among the studies undertaken by the Bishops at the Second Vatican Council that of modern means of communications was reviewed very closely. The media of radio and television can be vital tools in the roll the Church plays in our daily life. Not only is it her desire to reach all men, but also to revitalize her own membership. One avenue of this approach, that of prayer, is finding new modes of expression. There is a renewed interest in spontaneous prayer as well as formal prayer, communal prayer as well as private prayer; prayer houses as well as retreat houses; Jesus revolutions instead of campus revolutions. Recall the Gospel passage of several weeks ago, The Lord came to the Apostles, while out on their boat, by walking on the water. Peter is anxious and asks if he can come to Him. Upon the invitation of the Lord he starts out strong, but as his faith weakens he begins to sink. At this point without much reflection he turns to prayer, he talks to the Lord by instinct. He simply says Lord save me. In doing so he is petitioning the Godman. The means of modern communications has made many people stars, has brought us many hit songs and sellout productions. One such hit song among several, advises us to Put your hand in the hand of the Man Who Walked on the Water. Each time we hear this song played it should remind us to talk to the Lord, We should turn to the Lord in time of temptation by turning to prayer at any moment of the day or night, for temptation knows no hour. By doing so we are adapting a very modern means to bolster our spiritual needs. Hit songs are probably made such by repetition. What better means do we have to ingrain ideas into our minds than repetition. If we can convert these ideas for the benefit of the spiritual, then modern communication becomes a tool of the Church for the well-being of the spiritual life of her members. Sincerely in Christ Rev. Herbert B. Schubert Chaplain 3 LADIES AUXILIARY SICK LIST Dolores Albrecht (c/o Shore Haven) 1305 West Wisconsin Ave Oconomowoc, WI 53066 Genevieve Olen c/o Meadowmere 701 East Puetz Road Room 221 Oak Creek, WI 53154 Phone 414-766-2221 Audrey Heine c/o Gerry Pareteau 143 Lake Street Pewaukee, WI 53072 Please remember these Ladies in your prayers and send a card. Thank you for your support! 4 2017-2018 COUNCIL 524 OBJECTIVES It has been many years since Council 524 has achieved Supremes Star Council Award We continually meet all the reporting requirements with the exception of attaining our annual membership & insurance quotas. Our goal this fraternal year is to recruit a minimum of 14 new members, and also to have a minimum of 5 members signing up for one of 20+ insurance options changing their status from Associate to Insurance member. We currently have 3 new members so far, leaving 11 to go with 6 months remaining in this fraternal year. Our Insurance has not had any gains. Why is Star council so important?? We have unfortunately been experiencing 18 to 20 senior members passing away each year, and we need to exceed these goals, to insure the viability of our councils future leadership, and charitable outreach. Currently 93 or 48% of our 194 active members are Honorary Life. We pray for their continued long life, but we must do our part to protect the legacy they have established. Can we count on you to recruit at least 1 new member? Only 64 or 27% of our membership are insured members. Have you met with our Field Agent recently to see what is all available? It s not just Life Insurance that the KC s offer. We need 5 of you to consider insurance benefits. Please contact our Agent Jay Molitor for a review of all the benefits he has to offer. His phone # is 414-861-9125
