Caring for and cultivating the world involves the following: Joyful appreciation for the God-given beauty and wonder of nature; Protection and preservation of the environment, which would be the stewardship of ecological concern; Respect for human life shielding life from threat and assault, doing everything that can be done to enhance this gift and make life flourish; and Development of this world through noble human effort physical labor, the trades and professions, the arts and sciences. (from Stewardship: A Disciple s Response) On Wednesday, April 22, we will have an Open House from 5:00-7:00 PM in our Pre-School and Main School. Come meet our faculty and learn more about all that St. John Vianney School has to offer. Our Uniform Exchange will be available while the Open House is taking place. If you have any used uniforms that are still in good condition, please send them to school before April 22. If your child is in need of additional uniform items, come and take a look at what we have shorts, shirts, jumpers, etc. Please come and join us on Saturday, April 25, for the annual Colonia 5K and Chris Jantas Fun Run. The Fun Run begins in our parking lot at 8:30 AM, and the 5K begins at 9 AM. There will be prizes and food. Chris Jantas was an SJV student who died suddenly while on a Boy Scout hiking trip. The money raised from the Fun Run is used for a scholarship fund in his name. Now that the weather is getting nicer, we have a few reminders for everyone. First of all, no pets are permitted on the school grounds at any time. Also, we would ask that you do not linger outside the building after dismissal. The playground area is used by aftercare. Children should not be running on the church steps or around the area in front of the church. We appreciate everyone s cooperation in these matters. Space is available for all grade levels for the 2015-2016 school year. If you would like more information or would like to register your child, please call the school office at 732-388-1662. Pre-School News We still have some spaces available for our Pre-School classes for the 2015-2016 school year. It is your courage and commitment that allows our diocesan ministries to flourish. Without our gifts of time, talent and financial resources, the light of faith in our diocese would not shine as brightly. Thank you for your continued support of the Bishop s Annual Appeal. How Americans Spend Their Time It has been reported that by the time the average American reaches age 50, he or she will have spent a full 10 of those years in front of the television set. Other studies reveal sobering insights into how much free time we spend each week on recreation, shopping and socializing. For Christian stewards, re-prioritizing time in order to share our God-given gifts means challenging those cultural values.

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly Third Sunday of Easter Now I know brothers that you acted out of ignorance, just as your leaders did, but God has thus brought to fulfillment what he had announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer. Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away. I might be inclined to ask Is this the same Peter we met in the patio who denied His Lord and Savior, just a few weeks ago? What enabled him to change from fear and cowardice to speak boldly about the Paschal mystery? The answer is his experience of the Risen Christ and the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. Like the Emmaus disciples our eyes too are to be opened to the words He spoke to us while He was with us. The words of Moses and the prophets and the psalms were fulfilled. Our minds are to be opened to understand the scriptures. How exciting it was for them to listen to Peter s great sermon and be moved to repentance and conversion. The formation of missionary disciples follows these four steps: 1) A personal relationship with Jesus., 2) Conversion to Him., 3) Acceptance of His teaching., 4) Being sent as was Peter to speak of Christ. Catechesis is step three, step one in Peter s announcement.
