Course/Module description: The course will deal with the following topics: 1. The presentation of central theories and models regarding adolescence 2. Coping strategies and the processes involved in help-seeking among adolescents 3. Counseling and consultation: Their significance vis-א-vis adolescents and their relevance in educational settings. 4. Particular counseling strategies and techniques appropriate for adolescents. Course/Module aims: Among the aims of the course that students will acquire the relevant knowledge on update and central theories regarding adolescence together with broadening their knowledge on empirical findings regarding this topic. The theoretical and empirical issues will be tested vis-a-vis the psychological and counseling needs of adolescents. The course is aimed at providing a basic understanding of the counseling of adolescents. Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to: The students will be able to know the basic and updated theories regarding adolescence and their implications to counseling. The students will be able to test the extent of the appropriateness of different counseling techniques as responsive to adolescents needs. Attendance requirements(%): Attendance is requested Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Although mainly the course is based on frontal lectures but the students are encouraged to be involved and to participate following their reading of the bibilography.
