A Message from our Grand Knight: Brother Knights, This month we will be having our annual Marian Mass followed by the international rosary and candlelight procession at the Waverly Retreat Center with Bishop Conley as our celebrant. I love this event as it is dedicated to our dear Mother Mary and brings people from all walks of life together in unity around one common cause. This cause is to honor our Blessed Virgin Mother and to ask for special graces to help us in our daily lives. This year there will be the opportunity to be included in an aerial photograph as we will be having a drone take pictures from above. I am excited to see how these pictures look of the candlelight procession. During the procession I will be leading the rosary and I love to see the candle lights as they process down the hill to the chapel and have enjoyed it over the years. Now this year for the first time seeing it from God s viewpoint should be amazing. Also the Knights of Columbus Patriotic Degree (4 th ) will be in their Honor Guard regalia and for the last time at this event using the old regalia as there has been a change in the design for the fraternal year 2018. Whether they are sporting the old or the new regalia the Honor Guard Knights are the pride of all the Knights. I ask God to give them the courage to accept the changes to the regalia with pride and honor. We will have a few of these Honor Guard Knights at Saint Teresa doing a Presentation to the 5 th grade confirmation class as we donate the bibles they use during their training for confirmation and will continue to use through the 12 grade at Pius X High School. We love giving especially to the children because we as Knights are. In Service to One, In Service to All. Vivat Jesus! A Message from our Chaplain: Dear Brother Knights, In September I m reminded of another great tradition that the Knights are involved with at St. Teresa s Parish: the annual Marian Mass at our retreat center. This event has even greater meaning this year with it being the Centennial of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima. September has a strong Marian character to it for during this month we celebrate her nativity (September 8), her most holy name (September 12 th ) and her sorrows (September 15 th ). The Knights themselves are inherently Marian in character. Those who love the Catholic Church know how important it is to honor Mary. Honoring Mary always leads us closer to her Son. Our council has the long-standing tradition of beginning each monthly meeting by commending our needs to Our Lady by praying the rosary together. I would like to thank the Knights for once again being responsive to the needs of others by orchestrating the special collections to aid so many suffering from the devastation of the recent hurricanes in our country. We also commend all those impacted by these storms to our Lady of Sorrows who was not unfamiliar with difficulties in her life and who wants to be our consolation. As Knights, may we never forget that we have such an incredible mother in our corner in all of our needs. May we do all that we can to foster a strong bond with her in prayer especially with the daily praying of the rosary. In Christ, Fr. Hottovy Knights of Columbus Recruiting Weekend The Knights of Columbus recruiting weekend will be September 16th & 17th after all masses at St. Teresa s. All men are welcome to talk to our members after mass to get to know the Knights of Columbus and have any questions answered. 2
