INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at 732-257-7722. MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers and Sisters, Today we celebrate, Corpus Christi, the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. On this day we are reminded of the centrality of the Eucharist in the life of the Church. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic life and worship. Our parish community is strengthened by the daily celebration of the sacrament of the Eucharist and the reserved sacrament present in the Tabernacle centers our life on Christ. The reason a parish is founded is for the sanctification of the people of God. May this feast fill us with deeper reverence for the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This Friday, June 23 rd, is the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We will celebrate a special Mass at 7 pm in the Church. At this Liturgy the parish will honor Cathy Piznar with the Msgr. Kelly Service Award. Cathy has been involved in so many aspects of Parish life and ministry. Cathy and her husband Bob are long time members of the parish and we are deeply indebted for their goodness. Please come and celebrate with us. A reception will follow the Mass. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. In Christ, Fr. June 17, 2017 St. Bartholomew School 470 Ryders Lane East Brunswick, NJ 08816 Tel. 732-254-7105 Fax. 732-254-6352 www.stbartseb.com Dear Parents and Guardians and Parishioners, Thank you for your ongoing support of St. Bartholomew School. With Christ as the Master Teacher, we remain the model of excellence in Catholic education. We continue to provide an innovative, faith-based education that is academically competitive and compelling in a caring and nurturing environment. It is with an abundance of joy that we end another successful school year. I am grateful to all the individuals who have helped make it a special one, including our Home School Association and School Advisory Council who believe in the mission and who serve as ambassadors for our school. I welcome Mrs. Molinaro, Mrs. Uzunis, and Ms. Phillips to our HSA board and welcome back Mrs. O Connell and Mrs. Russo. I am thankful for all our parents, guardians, and grandparents for their support and sacrifice. I thank our teachers and staff, who give of themselves to their vocation as Catholic school educators as we work together for the success of our students. Please see the website for sign-up information for extracurricular activities for the Fall. Miss Malko is planning to add an Acappella Club to our already fabulous Music Program! Again, I thank you for all you do to support our school. Let us pray that Jesus will continue to inspire us and fill us with renewed energy, faith, and commitment for the upcoming school year. Have a wonderful summer, and I look forward to a wonderful 2017-2018 school year. God bless you, Mrs. Ann Wierzbicki, R.N., M.A.E./Ed.S. Principal St. Vincent de Paul Society St. Bartholomew Conference Congratulations, Mrs. Byrne, on your retirement. We wish you incredible days and deserved enjoyment with many wonderful moments, and thank you for the way you have loved, educated, and inspired your students. You will be missed. Field Day took place on Monday. A pizza lunch was provided by the HSA and a fun time was had by all. Thank you to Mrs. Dudra from organizing this event and to the many parent/ guardian volunteers who helped make this event a success. Our Pre-K students celebrated their end-of-year celebrations on Tuesday. Congratulations to our youngest learners! Congratulations, Tyler, for your induction into National Junior Honor Society via the VGo and Samantha, for being honored by the Knights of Columbus for receiving first place at the state level for the Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest. East Brunswick TV recorded Tyler s induction and it was broadcast on the EBTV Channel 28. Our eighth grade graduates received the Sacrament of Confirmation this Thursday evening. We keep them in our prayers as they receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Summer reading, assignments, and supply lists for the upcoming school year will be posted on teacher websites. Class lists for the upcoming school year are compiled by teachers, with many factors being taken into consideration. Therefore, requests for teachers and requests to be with certain students may not be honored. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Over the summer, our teachers will be receiving professional development about fully integrating STREAM, which stands for science, technology, religion, engineering, art, and math, throughout the curriculum. Mrs. Laudicina will be attending week at The College of NJ on implementing the program. The St. Vincent de Paul Society is very grateful for the food and monetary dona ons we have received from our parishioners. We are blessed to have such a generous parish family! Spirit of St. Vincent In a meeting with charitable organizations in France, Pope Francis described how in serving the poor, they are serving Christ, and that through them, you meet Jesus. The world today is in urgent need of this witness of Divine mercy. In today s time, the human person is often dismissed as useless God, on the other hand, always recognizes the dignity and nobility of the child He loves. The poor are favored by the Lord, and are at the center of the Gospel. (Radio Vaticana, news 2014-12-13) About Us Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person to person service to individuals in need. Three specific ways we support our mission are (1) through preparing, delivering, and serving meals every other week at the Ozanam Family Shelter in Edison, (2) through collec ng and distribu ng food through our own local Food Pantry here in our parish, and (3) through person to person casework with troubled persons and families in our immediate neighborhood. Our conference meets on the second Monday of each month at the Parish Center at 7:30pm. We can be reached at 732-597-1507 or by email at info@ebsvdp.org. If getting involved and helping others is something you've been meaning to do, please consider this an invitation to join us!
