The Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Saturday and Sunday September 22-23, 2018 www.stjudecatholic.org Dear Friends, It is hard to find the words to adequately express my thanks to all of you for the amazing celebration of my 30th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood. Last weekend was one of the high points of my life. It began on Friday afternoon at school, when the faculty, staff, and student body surprised me in the gym with a celebration of spirit. We celebrated the 35th anniversary of our school at the same time. Each class made me an anniversary poster, and they were hanging all throughout the gym. I think the crowd was louder than it had ever been in my years here. Thank you, Mrs. Michelle Gardiner, principal, Mrs. Laura Favaloro, assistant principal, our cheerleaders, Mrs. Starr Driesse, and all those who worked SO HARD to bring together a great celebration of Saint Jude! Then, on Sunday, after a Saturday afternoon of constant cheering and yelling at the TV during the LSU Auburn game, we celebrated a Mass of thanksgiving during our 11:30am Mass. Father Ryan, Brother Ray Hebert (an ordained Brother of the Sacred Heart from Catholic High) and my good friend, Father Jamin David were present to concelebrate. Our music ministry knocked it out of the park again! Thank you to all of you for your prayers and kindness, and to Charmaine, our Catholic Daughters, Mr. Mark Monistere, and all who helped with the reception. My family and I and everyone present seemed to have a really, really good time! Please accept this column as another opportunity for me to thank all of you for your support, your faith, and your love. Sincerely, Fr. Trey Nelson Pastor
