Still Serving Krista Goodyear, Cmdr. Auxiliary We are enclosing a poppy with this newsletter. These poppies make it possible to support our many veterans programs. We hope that you will be generous with your donations and know that we appreciate whatever you wish to send for these many worthwhile programs. Thank you and have a wonderful summer!!! Chaplain Area veterans passing on recently were: Robert G. Rohner, February 23 rd (age 91); David A. Rameden, February 26 th (age 55); and Steven M. Buboltz, March 10 th (age 56). The annual Vietnam Veterans Day program will be at the Legion again this year, Sunday April 1 st at 2:00PM. That is also Palm Sunday with Easter being April 8 th. Have a meaningful and Happy Easter! If you know of a homebound veteran let me know. I visited George Stoner a month ago, and called today since he is in Hospice at home with 24 hr. nurse care. Stop in to visit, 631-1 st Ave NW. Do you know where your soul is going after you pass on? If not, talk to me about it. Ron Miller, 651-464-5549 Sons of the American Legion The SAL and American Legion Post 225 have donated money to send two junior boys to BOYS STATE in June. We have four boys from FLHS and two from N Lakes Academy who applied and will be interviewed. Good luck to each and every one of them. Burger Nite has started up again on Monday nights, with a bike and tricycle giveaway on the last Monday of every month. Burger Nite has been successful, with more attendees every month; but we are still looking for more people to come in and enjoy our wonderful Burgers. Also hoping for a few more SAL volunteers. Thank You Rick, The Commander Club Manager Legionnaires, The 4th of July is just around the corner and we had a fantastic turnout at our March 23rd fundraiser. A fun time was had by all, and those of you who were on the receiving end of a cream pie square in the melon, it was worth it! We have continuing remodeling going on. If you stop in and see someone painting, cleaning or general maintenance, give him or her a hearty THANK YOU. Terry
Legion Riders Greeting Riders, Spring is officially here, and as we discussed at the last meeting we have scheduled our first run for Saturday April 28th. It will be a Smelt Run; details are posted on the flyers around the Bar. Eli, Tony Larson and I will map out the route, and we'll send that off in an email. Let's have 100% participation on this our first official ride folks. If you haven't gotten your patch set yet, see Ivey soon. Meeting night has changed to the FIRST Wednesday of each month; same time 7pm, so perhaps we can get more folks to attend. Mark your calendars and put those dates in your planners; OK? At the next meeting we will review the details of the Smelt Run and start planning for our next ride. Also a Rider Picnic is in the works. I suppose that's it for now. Stop in at the club and support our post home. See you there! Keep the rubber on the road! U.S. Postage Paid Forest Lake, MN Permit 67 A Hero's Hero So Many Soldiers Living On The Street Their Spirits Broken, With Defeat. What Must They Think When They Look Around Eyes Passing By, Staring At The Ground? Does Anger Fill Them When We Turn Away, From The Debts We Owe That Should Be Repaid? What if At That Moment, Just Once, Instead We Saluted in Honor, Right Hand to Head? To Let Them Know They Are Not Ghosts, Thanking Them for Being Braver Than Most. If Everyone Would Show Them Grace We Just Might Find Their Pain Erased. For All The Heroes Still Fighting To Live And For Heroes Like You, Who Continue To Give.
