Gutgsell Present Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes: A motion was made by Mike O Brien to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the October 21st meeting and to approve the minutes as prepared by the Recorder. 1 P a g e

The motion was seconded by Dave Price. All members present voted aye, the motion carried and the minutes will stand as presented. Chaplain s Report/Comments: Father Gutgsell gave an update on the end of the church year and talked about the Solemnity of Christ the King and the beginning of the new church year starting November 1 st and the Advent Season. Preparations are made for the birth of Christ and talked about the parish retreat to be conducted by Deacon Keating. The retreat is December 8 th & December 9 th. Guests Check Presentations: Guests for the evening: Boy Scouts/Clint Johnson $350.00 Husker Great Foundation: Jerry Murthaugh, $700.00 Checks were presented to the Boy Scouts and Husker Great Foundation by GK Phil Tamisiea. Financial Report: Steve Defleths reported that we have $21835.00 in the bank. One year ago we had $18,300, but this is before expenses to be paid for the Big Red Dinner. Joedy Sandhoefner provided additional updates. $11,700 is in the bank and most of Big Red Expenses are covered, but a handful of bills are outstanding. Don Casey made motion to approve report, Mike Young seconded the motion and the motion was passed. Communications & Letters: GK mentioned that the Supreme sent Larry McKennan as Family of the Month in September and was awarded a Holy Family Gift for his home. Old Business: 1. Big Red Dinner update was given by Mike Conrad. Mike recapped our challenges with this years dinner and the short time frame. Coach Boyd Eppley s message about overcoming challenges was well received and was representative of what the council went through to pull off the event. Plans for next year will be to have the event at the end of July. 2. Christmas in Calhoun will be 12-13-2014 and the Living Nativity will run from 4:15 to 5:00, but won t be in park, instead it will be in church garden. The Youth Group will play the Holy Family. A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5:00 7:00 in Schwertley Hall. Spaghetti, meat balls and salad are the menu items. Setup will be on 12-11-2014 and volunteers will be needed. There will also be a dance as entertainment. 2 P a g e

3. February 14, 2015 is the date for the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Dinner. Knights will be asked to help set up and tear down the tables. Mike Conrad and Larry Kusek will work on the material for the program. Archbishop George Lucas has committed to be in attendance and will say Saturday at 5:00 PM. The commerative coins are ready and each member can obtain one by a $100.00 or by doing two Service Projects. 4. The Council will support the Youth Bus Trip that will occur in January 2015 for the National Pro-Life March and the event is in Washington D.C. Final details need to be worked out. 5. The Champagne Brunch is January 18, 2015. The Guest Speaker is Dr. Coleen Kelly Mast. Phil Tamisiea has worked out promotion with radio station KVSS. Twelve tickets will be given to KVSS to be used by them as part of the promotion. Promotion will be after Christmas. The council will 6. The retention and recruitment drive will be held the week-end of December 14, 2014. Volunteers will be needed for both Saturday night and both Sunday Masses. There is no need to wear Knight apparel. Lou Brown and Steve Deflelths will work the 5:00 PM Mass, Rich Johnson and Phil Tamisisea will work the 8:00 AM Mass and Mike Young and Mike Conrad will work the 9:30 AM Mass. 7. GK Phil Tamisiea provided an update on an extension of our storage closet and was looking to do the work the Monday after Thanksgiving. There was discussion about conflicts with that day so further research to be done and then get a date to do the work. 8. New Business 1. Coats for Kids: There is a need for coats for kids in Ft Calhoun, but some kids and/or parents complained about the quality. Additional discussion was held as to who else would benefit and there are churches in North Omaha where the coats will be appreciated. Jim Hubschman made a motion to purchase two cases and Terry Fitzgerald seconded the motion. The motion was carried. The coats are $220.00 per case. Steve Detfleths made a motion to donate $200.00 to the Jesse Tree for local kids and Mike Conrad seconded. Additional discussion occurred and Steve amended his motion to provide $200.00 if the funds were required. Mike Conrad seconded, the motion was approved. Family of the Month: A motion was made by Mike O Brien to nominate Chad Grosse-Rhode for the Family of the Month for all the work that he put in for the Big Red Dinner. Jim Hubscman seconded the motion. All members present voted aye and the motion carried. 3 P a g e

District Deputy Report: District Deputy Ray Mann provided the following updates: There is a Major Ceremony on November 23, 2014 in Gretna. Ray needs a list of upcoming First Degree Ceremonies for his report. There is a training session for Financial Secretaries on 12-13-2014. That conflicts with Christmas in Calhoun. Discussion took place regarding the next Fourth Degree ceremony and if there is anyone other then Jerry Mapes who wants to obtain their Fourth Degree. For the Good of the Order: Additions this month: For Father Partrusch, deceased Pastor of St. Bridget St. Rose Church. For Father Blasé Cupich, Omaha native who was installed on 11-18-2014 as the Archbishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Fellow Knights, Parish members, and others to be remembered in our prayers: 1.
