Nevertheless, they remind each other, Is this not Joseph s son? Surely the people know who he is. The carpenter s son. The young man who had learned in this very synagogue. The boy down the street. Conflict arises as Jesus begins to define himself in a new way. When he compares himself to the ancient prophets Elijah and Elisha the tensions grow. The tensions multiply when Jesus begins to tell of a new mission for God s people: the good news of the scriptures is intended for all. In his famous passage from the First Letter to the Corinthians, St. Paul reminds us of the eternal nature of love. Love does not come to an end. In today s readings, we are reminded that, like love, Jesus mission cannot be contained. Jesus slips through the crowd of persecutors and moves on to new challenges. We are called to this same perseverance in the name of love. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
M.B.S Will Celebrate Scout Sunday - February 10, 2019, 9:45 a.m. Mass Scouting is an important Youth Ministry at Most Blessed Sacrament! Hundreds of youth participate in the programs offered by the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Cub Scouts. Scouting is an effective way to help Catholic youth to do their duty to God and to their country. Scouting also builds character while teaching religious devotion in a wholesome and fun environment, which in most cases is the great outdoors! M.B.S. will celebrate Scout Sunday at the 9:45 a.m. Mass on February 10th. We invite all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Daisies, Brownies, and all other Girls Scouts to wear their uniform and sit in the reserved seating in order to be recognized as a group. Leaders are requested to be in Field Uniform. Scouts will proceed up the aisle at the beginning of Mass with the Celebrant. For more information on Scouting at MBS: Cub Scouts (Pack 777) - www.batonrouge.mypack.us; Boy Scouts (Troop 888) - www.troop888.net; Catholic Committee on Scouting - www.nccs-bsa.org; Girl Scouts - www.gsle.org Faith-Fellowship-Friendship We invite any men to jaw over coffee after an 8:45/8:15 weekday morning Mass. This will be simple conservation of your choice on questions or experiences in our faith journeys. Maybe you just want to listen or maybe you just want to be heard. Invite your friends. There will be no agendas, requirements, or structure, although flexible if the group opts for a specific direction. If interested, please contact Claude Culross at claude-ccc@cox.net with your weekday preference. Lay Apostles of the Returning King The Lay Apostolate of Jesus Christ the Returning King has been granted canonical status. The messages that are offered are part of a body of work from Katheryn Clarke, also known as Anne, a lay apostle. The messages are private revelations recorded by Anne and submitted to her Bishop who has granted permission for publication and distribution. We share these messages with you, along with beautiful hymns, as a bridge to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. For it is only Jesus who can provide true healing and consolation. Our next Lay Apostles of the Returning King prayer group meeting is Monday, February 11th at 10:00 a.m. with a repeat meeting on Wednesday, February 13th at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings are held in the St. Mark room. Febr ar 24, 2019 Celebration of Fr. Donald Blanchard s 50th Anniversar of Ordination beginning with Mass at 2:30 p.m. followed by reception in the MBS School Gy. Ever one is invited!
