Whether you receive this on Easter morning or the day after, or whenever you get around to reading it, you still should have enjoyed celebrating this supreme HOLY day in our faith. This action of resurrection from our Saviour surely leaving the most indelible, and enduring mark on the hearts of all knowing on this earth. It gives proof that Jesus is the son of God and example of what is in store for those who believe in Him. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth those who have done good to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation (John 5:28-29). May you continue to celebrate it all year The Father Michael J. McGivney Guild serves as a source of information about the life, works and spirituality of Father McGivney. The Guild distributes informational materials about him, receives reports of favors granted through his intercession and oversees the distribution of relics. There are more than 155,000 members of the Father McGivney long. I extend many thanks to those that helped or took part in our many activities during the month of March. Whether you cared for our council home, helped in preparing or serving our Friday night meals, or food at the Rigadoo, St Patrick s Day, or Easter Egg Hunt, attended meetings, dined out at Peace a Pizza, planned for future events, served on our council degree team, or just prayed for those that did, you helped build our fraternity stronger. May we meet multiple times during the month of April at the many activities we have listed in the program section of this newsletter. Thanks to the additional Knights that showed up to our March Business Meeting. I hope you Guild. return again and invite another to join you. The more we see of each other, the more we can encourage and support one another in keeping with our unity principle. The build the business meeting pot of cash is going to be bigger this month. Come and add to it and our charity fund as well as get a chance to win some of it. See more in the program section. Don t forget to ask a fellow Catholic man, If he is a Brother Knight, yet? And of course have that form 100 available, wherever you travel, or else refer them to o u r c o u n c i l w e b s i t e kofc1960.org. Vivat Jesus, Bernie Father Michael J. McGivney Guild A P R I L ~ 2 0 1 8 The purpose of the Guild is to inspire greater personal holiness and cooperation with God s grace by disseminating information about Father McGivney. The Guild s goal, as stated by Dominican Father Gabriel B. O Donnell, guild director and vice postulator of Father McGivney s cause for canonization, is to, spread the good word about Father McGivney s holiness of life, to encourage devotion to his memory, and to seek his intercession before the throne of God. Those devoted to Father McGivney are encouraged to join the Guild and regularly say the prayer for his canonization. PatapscoKnight1960@gmail.com

April 13 Pork Chops April 20 Fried Chicken April 27 Crab Imperial May 4 Regular Menu, No Special Deputy Grand Knight Report Brothers, Happy Easter! As I write this, it is snowing outside as if winter has finally arrived, one week ahead of the start of the Baseball season. Hopefully, when you read this, it feels much more like baseball weather than it does right now. But I have confidence that spring will finally arrive, and along with it, the promise of longer days, warmer nights, and increased fellowship with our brother Knights-some whom we haven t seen in a while, and others whom we may have never seen before. We are already seeing more brothers at our business meetings and that trend promises to continue. There are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degrees coming up in short order at our coun- cil home, the Maryland State Convention is in May, and Baltimore hosts the Supreme Convention this coming August. Volunteers are still needed and I m hearing drivers are in particular demand. And, while the kick-off To our centennial year is still nine months away, it will be upon us before we know it. It is an exciting time for our council and for the Maryland Knights of Columbus, and an exciting time to come back if you ve been away for a while. For newer members, we are embarking on a fairly unique journey that you will be glad you experienced. As a reminder to event Chairmen, submit your reports to either myself or to the Grand Knight-ideally- no later than three weeks after your event, so that it is both fresh in your memories and it will give us time to edit the drafts. Remember, do the best that you can, but do not worry about perfection...just getting them in, for now, is more important. Again, Happy Easter. V O L U M E 1 8 I S S U E 4 Council Program Reports Council: Thanks for all who helped support and serve our two Irish events in March. The Rigadoo was surely a success with many guests and great continued entertainment as it always does. The inaugural St Patrick s Day Dance was also very successful. So much so that plans have been set in motion to repeat again next year with the incredible Hooligans band and their dedicated fan base. Come to our April business meeting to hear the results. Council: Dine out fundraiser nights are back. Thanks for those that went to Peace A Pizza in March. Another restaurant and date in April will be announced shortly on website and via Announce email Council: RECRUITMENT EVENT : WING BEER AND COLLEGE BASKET- BALL NIGHT did not occur in March. Retention Committee: As announced in the March Business meeting our worthy Recruitment Director PGK Scott Luco will be heading up a committee to reach out to all our current brother Knights in order to check in on those especially we have not heard or seen in a long time. Please consider helping us do this most important task of any fraternity by reaching out to Scott at lucogk1960@gmail.com or 443-707- 6565. Community: A Night Out with Mom is another council fundraiser that welcomes the community. We have the date set for Friday May 11th which is the weekend of Mothers Day. We have the contact to purchase Marigold flowers through the State KoC program for this event and for actual Mothers Day masses. We now have a Chairman thanks to our new financial advisor Michael Duffy. We could still use some volunteers to help pull this nice dinner and entertainment night off to help families in the community honor their mothers. Contact Mike at Michael.duffy@kofc.org or 410-245 -8370. Community: The Charity Run will take place on June 30. Jared Myers will chair this event. He will rely on many volunteers to help make this huge fundraiser for our council a continued success for the 6th year in a row. Please consider being a part of this fun event that brings so much positive recognition to our council. Reach out to Jared at 443-794-5748 to offer your help. Build the Business Meeting At the March business meeting the Grand Knight kicked off a new endeavor to incentivize you to come to the business meetings on a monthly basis. In addition to the 50/50 drawing that takes place at every business meeting, there was a new pot of money started with a $50 donation. In addition to that each member that attended the meeting was encouraged to donate $1 to that pot. This increased the pot to $70. Then at the end of the meeting a name was drawn from the list of all current members of our council. The name drawn was brother Knight William Gavin. Since he was not in attendance the money stayed in the pot and will be added to in the April business meeting. If you show up and your name is drawn you will win 80% of the pot. The other 20% will go to our charity fund. You have to show up to win. See you at the April 11 (2nd Wednesday 8:00pm) business meeting. P A G E 3 April 21 Saturday 10:00 until 12:00 Noon At The Council Home Please pray for Bother Knights and their families. Patapsco Council Milestones John H Sullivan transferred to Council # 14612, Linthicum MD

Patapsco Council Degree Team The Patapsco Degree Team hosts a number of Degrees throughout the year. We are in need of a few Brothers to help by taking a speaking role in the Degrees. This is an significant role within our Order and your participation is important in welcoming Catholic Gentlemen to the Knights of Columbus. Consider becoming active in our Degree Team. Contact ~ Brother Knight Tony Viscardi 410-719-0099 or afviscardi@verizon.net The Next Admissions Degree will be held April 18, 2018. From the Desk of the Financial Secretary "WHATS IN YOUR WALLET?" We have all heard this familiar question from ads for a credit card company. But I would like you to look in your wallet for your KofC membership card. Is it a 2018 card? If not you probably owe dues for the current year. The cards from 2017 are valid until the end of last month. Please if you owe dues, send them to me, Michael Doetzer, 5217 Shelbourne Rd, Baltimore, 21227. I will process your dues immediately and send a current membership card to you. April 22 the 55th World Day of Prayer for Vocations A Prayer for Vocations Heavenly Father, bless Your Church with an abundance of holy and zealous priests, deacons, brothers and sisters. Give those You have called to the married state and those You have chosen to live as single persons in the world the special graces that their lives require. Form us all in the likeness of Your Son so that in Him, with Him and through Him we may love You more deeply and serve You more faithfully, always and everywhere. With Mary we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Chaplain Report Brother Knights and Lovely Ladies: Spring has sprung and Easter is finally here!!! It is a time of rebirth, a time for new beginnings and a time to shake off the shackles of winter (and sin) and try again on our road to eternal life. Whatever our Lenten resolutions were, now may be the time to ask ourselves, "Am I a different person since my Lenten journey began? How have I improved in how I treat my neighbor, especially those close to me and those I have daily contact with? Do I do a better job in putting their needs ahead of my own? Now is the time to put those intentions into action: one moment, one hour, and one day at a time. It all begins with asking for Our Lord's Lord's help at the beginning of each day, and working at those new beginnings in our lives - one day at a time. Vivat Jesus! Deacon Dave Ludwikoski Patapsco Council Scholarship Program The scholarship assistance program is for students attending, or who will be attending, Catholic elementary or high schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. This program is offered by the Knights of Columbus, Patapsco Council No. 1960. Please check the Patapsco Council website for additional details: http://www.kofc1960.org/ Deadline for the submission for applications is May 1, 2018. Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Assembly normally meets the fourth Thursday of the month at Stafford Hall (St Agnes Council home) 2021 Frederick Rd Catonsville. April 26 Meeting April 29 Memorial Mass Do you know a Catholic Gentleman? Have you asked him to become a Knight? What are you waiting for?

Brothers All, As you may recall, our Council will be hosting another Shredding Drive on Saturday April 21st from 10a-12noon and would greatly welcome any and all youth / young men & women / somewhat healthy adults to help during the event. This can be for service hours or a simple volunteer opportunity. Those assisting us would be helping with taking papers and small electronics from the people driving in and placing them at the shredding truck. Currently, there are no St Mark Confirmation candidates as the 8th graders are done. Rae Ellen will solicit help from both the 7th & 8th graders. I've reached out to one of the local Scout leaders with no response as of yet. But, if past drives are any indication of future ones, we will need additional assistance. I will NOT be able to be there for the event as I have to work my second job, but am also requesting any Brother Knights who plan to attend the event to please contact me as we must have a representative on the ground to direct and oversee. Would you be able to share this request for assistance with those you may know? You can also give them my contact information if needed. Any and all help will be welcomed and appreciated. Thank you! Rob Carter 2018 Supreme Convention The 2018 Supreme Convention will be held in Baltimore Md. August 6 9, 2018. We are recruiting volunteers to assist with the various duties that will be undertaken to make the convention a success. The success of the organization of the convention and convention itself relies on the participation of Brother Knights and their families to help with pre-convention activities, hosting duties and support opportunities throughout the convention. Please take a few minutes to review, complete and submit the Volunteer Information Sheet attached available on line at www.kofc.org Jack Giacalone ~ Volunteer Coordinator If you can stand the gaze of a crucifix long enough you will discover these truths. First, if sin cost him, who is innocence, so much, then I who am guilty cannot take it lightly; second, there is only one thing worse in all the world than sin and that is to forget I am a sinner. During the recent months a new carpet was installed in the Blue Room, as well as new tile in the foyer and in front of the bar. These expenses are paid by the Holding Company renting the hall as well as other fundraising events. Members of the Board also recently installed a new floor in the storage area off the Blue Room. Mike Karpers, PGK Warren Norris, Bill Zimmerman and PGK Marty Keeley labored many hours to install this tile floor. In the coming weeks there will be work on the outside and the gardens at the Council Home. New carpet being installed in the Blue Room. Path to Sainthood Confirmation of Miracle For the Venerable Servant of God to advance to beatification, a miracle through his intercession must be reported, investigated and approved by the Vatican Congregation. The first case brought before the Congregation in Father McGivney s cause was ruled not miraculous in late 2011. In January 2012 another miracle was reported and is being investigated.

Rigadoo Storms Council For Irish Night The Council held its Annual Irish Night on March 9, 2018 featuring the Irish band Rigadoo. The band has been playing at the Council for more than three decades at the Annual Irish Night in March. During the intermission the crowd was entertained by Baltimore s own the Ni Fianna Pipe Band. The pipers played various tunes that filed the building with their enchantment. The Rigadoo playing the song Wild Colonial Boy under leadership of Mike Karpers. The event featured a Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner followed by the music of Rigadoo. The Council home was packed this evening for this wonderful Irish tradition. St. Patrick s Day Party at Patapsco Council To celebrate St. Patrick s Day the Patapsco Council hosted another Irish evening with the music of The Hooligans. In addition there were Pipers from MacMillian Pipes to entertain the crowd. The event was organized by Joe Melchor and GK Bernie Wrisk. The Council Home was packed for this evening of fine Irish music. The band plays often at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Certainly a lively band which everyone seemed to enjoy. The best news is this event will be back next year on March 16, 2019. This is guaranteed to sell out early. The Irish band The Hooligans.
