He uses images as he teaches. He addresses all of us. Jesus sees a plumb line connecting the soul with the soul's expression-words and actions. He uses exaggeration to drive home his point. We are urged to clear out the debris that blinds us. He knows that we have an uncanny ability to be blind to our own weaknesses, though they be as big as a board. He knows, too, how willingly we seem to ferret out others' smallest specklike flaws. And this, too, is for our general consumption; solid old goodness and solid old badness will show eventually. The old Latin saying, which echoes Jesus images, is true: What is bred in the bone will out in the flesh. By and by, the inside will show through. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.

Park in main parking lot of school. The following Friday evenings will begin at 6:00 p.m. in church with Stations of the Cross. After the Stations of the Cross, there will be Benediction. Saturday mornings during Lent On Saturday mornings the Divine Chaplet will be recited at 8:00 a.m. followed by the Rosary, Benediction, and a Communion Service. All are encouraged to attend this service during Lent. Lenten Regulations for the Diocese of Baton Rouge In the Diocese of Baton Rouge, as in the rest of the Church in the United States, Catholics ages 18-59 are bound by a grave obligation to observe a solemn fast on both Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Catholics ages 14 and up are to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, all Fridays of Lent, and Good Friday as well. To fast means to consume only one full meal a day at most, although taking of other, smaller quantities of food at the other customary mealtimes is permitted. Food and drink "between meals" (excepting only water and medicine) is not permitted on fast days. To abstain from meat means refraining from eating beef, veal, pork, or poultry at least, although not necessarily eggs, milk products, or meat broths or condiments made from animal fat. The consumption of fish, shellfish, and reptiles (e.g., turtle, alligator) is permitted if desired. Each in his or her own way, every Christian is bound to do penance by virtue of divine law. Only ill health or some similar situation of urgency excuses. Christ Jesus' own challenges to "prayer, fasting and almsgiving" are paramount (see the Gospel reading for Ash Wednesday, Mt 6:1-6, 16-18). We seek forgiveness for sin (especially in the Sacrament of Penance) and come to appreciate ever more the great sufferings and sacrifice which Jesus experienced for the sake of our salvation.

Instructions for Mission Appeal: Please note that on the 1st weekend of each month, we normally take up a 2nd collection for our MBS Building & Development Fund. For the weekend of March 2nd-3rd, the 2nd collection will be for a Mission Appeal as mentioned on this bulletin page. I m asking that you please place your regular Weekly Stewardship AND your monthly Building & Development offerings together in the 1st collection. For the 2nd collection Mission Appeal, you will find envelopes in the pews. If paying by check - make it payable to MBS with notation of Mission Appeal and place donation in 2nd collection. MBS 2019 MISSION APPEAL This Weekend - March 2-3, 2019 The Propagation of the Faith office of our diocese has invited the Diocese of Kumbakonam, India to speak to us about their missionary activities and challenges. Accordingly, Rev. M. S. Selva Raj will be speaking at Most Blessed Sacrament during all the Masses on the weekend of March 2-3, 2019. This diocese, started in 1899 in the State of Tamil Nadu, India, has an area of 7823 sq. km and a Catholic population of 213,000 (6% of the population). It is served by 210 diocesan and 63 religious priests, 588 nuns and 15 trained lay catechists. The mission and spiritual prospects of Kumbadonam diocese are bright but its needs are many and pressing. Sixty percent of its Catholics are depressingly poor. Therefore, your fervent prayers and generous help are earnestly requested for building the Kingdom of God, in and through the diocese of Kumbakonam, India. From David Planche The family of Patricia Mary Nutter Planche wishes to express their humble gratitude to all those who shared in our journey in any way these last years. We are grateful for the myriad expressions of your varied ways of prayers, cards, love, and support which sustained her and us. We will eternally be grateful for the MBS presence in our lives and their kindness! Blessings! David, Adam, and Martin Planche Catholic Daughters - Court Divine Mercy The Catholic Daughters Court Divine Mercy will meet this Tuesday, March 5, 2019. All ladies of the parish are invited. Court Divine Mercy is a group of Catholic women who are dedicated to a unified faith in Christ as demonstrated through charitable good works to the community and the church. What is CRS Rice Bowl? For more than 40 years, CRS Rice Bowl has been Catholic Relief Services Lenten faith-in-action program for families and faith communities. Through CRS Rice Bowl, we hear stories from our brothers and sisters in need around the world, reflect on our own lives and faith, and devote our Lenten prayers, fasting and gifts to transform the lives of the poor. This Lent, Most Blessed Sacrament will participate in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program that will help you experience Lenten spirituality by living in solidarity with people in need around the world. May we, the global Church, continue our prayerful walk and come together as a family reflecting on how we can live this call to mercy more abundantly. We will have the Rice Bowls/Lenten Calendars available on the tables at the exits of church. Use your cardboard CRS Rice Bowl and Lenten Calendar to guide your Lenten prayer, fasting and almsgiving. As a family, read the Stories of Hope and daily reflections to inspire your Lenten journey and motivate your Lenten giving. We will be collecting your CRS Rice Bowls at the end of Lent.
