PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: We want to assist those who cannot celebrate Mass with us because of illness, age or handicap. HELP WANTED: We are looking for volunteers to help with our Bingo games. Bingo is one of our most attended and profitable fundraising activities and is lots of fun. The Rosary Society has been holding Bingo games on Tuesday evenings for many years. All parishioners are invited to join our bingo teams, who work once every 5 weeks. You do not have to be a member of the Rosary Society to volunteer. Activities include the selling of cards, callers, selling snacks or general assistance. Faith Formation News Director: Kathy Burns (518)237-0370; (518)428-6353 Thank you to all who participated in our Souper Saturday Movie Night. It was an evening filled with faith, fun & good companionship. We will be hosting another movie night in late January with a film about the life of Saint Pope John Paul II. Thank you to all the volunteers who worked so hard for this event: Jayne Galarneau, Julia Clairmont, Fran Dudwoire & Pat Harrington. Souper Saturday Movie nights are part of adult formation put on by The Faith Formation Program. Our next Children's Liturgy of The Word will be held on Sunday, December 10 th, at 9am. We will focus on John the Baptist. Children of all ages are welcome. First Communion students will make their first Confession on Wednesday, December 13 th, at 6pm with Father Peter. This is normal class time. Please contact Mrs. Burns if you have a scheduling conflict for this day. Please continue to review the Form for Confession and Act of Contrition with your child. Youth Ministry (grades 6-10) will be meeting on Saturday, December 16 th, at 1pm in the Parish Center to answer letters to Santa written by the students in Cohoes elementary school. Please see Mrs. Burns for sign up information. We will be packing food at the Regional Food Bank on Sunday, December 17 th, 1pm-4pm. We continue to visit the United Church of Cohoes kitchen to serve the hot meals on the third Saturday of each month from 3pm to 5:45pm. Please see Mrs. Burns for sign up information. Our birthday party for baby Jesus will be on Wednesday, December 20 th, at 6pm in the Church Hall. ALL Faith Formation classes will participate. Students in the 7:15pm program will attend at 6pm for this event. We will be having pizza and a birthday cake for Jesus. Students are asked to bring a new, unwrapped infant gift which will be donated to the Birthright program. An informational flyer will be sent home with Faith Formation students this week. THIS IS WHAT WE'RE LEARNING IN FAITH FORMATION CLASS Students in grades 1-5 made Thanksgiving cards two weeks ago for our elderly parishioners. Thank you for your artwork & kind thoughts. Grade 1: We continue to master The Our Father and will begin learning The Hail Mary. We will review what we've learned since September and will begin talking about Jesus coming into the world. Grade 2: Practicing for our first Confession and learning The Act of Contrition. Grade 3: Learning about the season of Advent and the birth of Jesus. Grade 4: Continuing our prayer chain and learning the meaning of the Advent Wreath. Grade 5: Studying Chapter 7&8, The chosen people & Moses leads God's people. Continuing with our prayer box & meditation station. Grades 6 & 7: Learning the spiritual & corporal works of Mercy. Reviewing the next chapter in Rediscovering Jesus and reviewing the Sunday Gospel reading. Grades 8 & 9: Focusing on the season of Advent and continue to write in our gratitude journal. Grade 10: Taking a short quiz on our faith & begin to delve deeper into The Apostle's Creed. Get ready for Jeopardy on December 6 th.
