Grand Knight Message Jify Loretta GK jify@aol.com (732) 289-8011 Worthy Brothers, Hoping all of you had a great and Blessed Christmas. Happy New Year to all. We had a great turn out for our two Christmas parties. John Harris did a great job as usual. We had great support from many of our Brothers. A lot of work goes into the parties. The Samaritan center party especially. I d like to especially thank brother Jimmy Anastasia for his very generous donation of pizza for the parties. The work starts back in September at Raceway Park. I cannot thank everyone enough for the support in that fund raiser. Then comes the coordination of the shopping by all the brothers, John Augello did a great job, and I need to mention that it was his first time. Setting up for these party s takes days and so many of you participated and I d like to thank you all. The super 50/50 raffle went very well. Barbara Timmes, wife of Brother George Timmes PGK won the raffle. Thank you to Jerry Cole PGK and Paul Zelinski PGK for their hard work on the raffle. We have accomplished so many great things and only half way through the year. Now that holidays have passed, let s all get involved and bring our Council to the next level. Come to meetings. Share some new ideas. Get our name out there. The more we are noticed the more brothers we will attract. Looking forward to the next six months. 2018-2019 COUNCIL OFFICERS Knights of Columbus Prince of Peace Council #5903 Chaplain Rev. Michael Gentile Assistant Chaplain Deacon Keith J. Casey, PGK Grand Knight Jify Loretta Deputy Grand Knight Bruce Matano Chancellor Joe LaCugna Recorder John Augello Financial Secretary Steve Timpone Treasurer Sal Carollo Advocate William Spadaro Warden Michael MacInnes Inside Guard Michael Loretta Outside Guard Vincent Bonello Lecturer John Harris Sr. Three Year Trustee Paul Zelinski Two Year Trustee John Peragine, PGK One Year Trustee John Harris Sr. Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity. The Knights was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works. The history of the Order shows how the foresight of Father Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for sainthood is being investigated by the Vatican, brought about what has become the world's foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society. The Order has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long -term care programs, and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service in communities. The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 14,000 councils and 1.8 million members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam, Saipan, Lithuania, Ukraine, and South Korea.
