COUNCIL LIFE Pope Pius XII Council 4422, 18th District St. Raphael s Parish JULY 2017 www.kofc4422.org popepius12@gmail.com GRAND KNIGHTS MESSAGE Brothers, Happy New Year! As of July 1 st, we enter a new Columbian Year (2017 2018) with this, brings a few new faces, as well as some old to the Officer s corps of the Council. Please welcome Ron Chalmers as our new Warden and Kwan-Yee Cheng as our new Advocate. Don Hoeffner PGK will be our new Deputy Grand Knight and Tom Prykuta PGK will move to Trustee with Doug Gondek PGK. The rest of the Officers (Tom Donovan PGK FDD, Joe Zink PGK FDD PFN, Al Swiderski PGK, Joe Iannone PGK, and Bob KauKaras) will all stay in their current positions, as well as the Council s insider and outside Guards (Freddy, Joe, and Danny). Fr. Holz has also agreed to stay on as our Chaplin to round out our corps. Please give them your congratulations and your support throughout this Columbian Year. Our last event before closing the books on 2016-2017 Columbian Year was our annual Pasta Knight celebrated on June 24 th. John Sarubbi PGK and his Food Crew did a superb job and served up food for about 100 people. There was plenty of food and seem all in attendance had a really good time. Good Job to the Crew and to the Chairmen (Al S. and Tom P.)! Since the 1st Tuesday of July is the 4 th, I ve moved our Business meeting to the 11 th (the 2 nd Tuesday). Please note, this will be the only meeting for the month since we do not have Social meeting during the summer (July and August). We will resume our normal meeting schedule in September and will have our installation of Officers during that social meeting on the 19 th of September. For the rest of the month, we have the Bus trip to the Sands on July 8 th, our semiannual audit on the 18 th, and our monthly Officer s meeting on the 25 th. It should also be noted, that these meeting are open to any member who wishes to know more about how the Council is governed and the Officers and I welcome you to come and participate in these functions. As with last year, my continuing tenure as Grand Knight will revolve around the same three initiatives as I mention last July: 1. To bring in new members the life line of the Order. 2. Membership retention - bring those member on the fringe back into the Council as active participants in our Council s actives. 3. Renovate our Council s Chambers to make a clean, safe, friendly, and an inviting environment that we all can be proud of. As I stated last year, these three initiatives go hand in hand with each other and I can only hope we as a council will all do our fair share to bring them to fruition. I can only hope you will all join me on this our next phase of our journey. Louise and I would like to wish you a Happy 4 th of July and please keep our service man and women in our prays as we all know: Freedom is not Free! Vivat Jesus Al Clancy Grand Knight Don t be a Knight in just name, Be a Knight in your daily activities!
