OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) Dear Parishioners, Our sympathy and prayers to the family and friends of Dan Malvin. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. In the past weeks, we have had a number of baptisms, and I failed to recognize them until now. Congratulations to Hadley Harmon, daughter of Jesse and Kristine; Adeline Albrecht, daughter of Cole and Rebecca; Grace Badenschier, daughter of Nathan and Emily; and Karleigh Duffey, daughter of William and Colleen! May you all grow in grace and favor! A special THANK YOU to a generous donor who gave a donation large enough to pay 1½ months of our church mortgage. If others would like to make a donation to the mortgage, contact Fr. Todd. This month of May is traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Mother and the Rosary. So often, the beauty of the Rosary is left unmentioned. It is a beautiful method of prayer that involves meditation, contemplation, lectio Divina (prayerful reading of the mysteries of the Rosary), and rote prayer. It is the best defense we have as we ask the Blessed Mother to intercede for us, reflecting on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Recently, a bishop of a war-torn and terrorized area had asked his parishioners to pray the Rosary. In his personal prayer, he relates how, when he reached for a sword of retaliation, they were turned into Rosaries, reminding him not only of the Gospel mandate to forgive and pray for our enemies, but also to recognize that it is God who wins the battle, and He has given the Rosary as our mightiest tool in the arsenal. During this month, I encourage all of us to pray the Rosary daily, or at least more frequently, and for us who already pray daily, to pray it with more devotion. If you need an aid to remind you how, or for the prayers or mysteries, or to help teach children, I have a copiable brochure available just ask. In Christ, Fr. Todd J. PAUL SUNDAY COLLECTION 4/26/15 Adult - $1,302.00 / Plate $158.25 Easter $50.00 / Catholic Home Missions $139.00 PRAYER MAKES A DIFFERENCE! I wanted to share a recent story with you about how prayer made a difference and saved a life. The story came to me in an email from Linda Reising, who is the Executive Director of First Choice Pregnancy Services in New Ulm. This is the pregnancy center that we have supported financially over the past few years with our baby bottle fundraiser. Linda has an email prayer line that she contacts whenever there is a critical situation that goes beyond the center s capability and she knows the only answer is to put it before God more directly. She had one such situation this week. I thought you d like to hear this powerful pro-life story. She had sent an email early this week calling us to pray for a young woman who had an appointment for an abortion but called the center to hear all of her options before going forward. It s best to hear the story in Linda s own words. Here they are. Good Afternoon! Thank you for your prayers for our client. I have just finished talking with her and she did keep her appointment with the abortion provider this morning. However, she insisted that she be given an ultrasound first. The provider tried to talk her out of having the ultrasound, but eventually gave it to the client. God in his goodness stirred the baby to be very active during the ultrasound! Mom said it was like the child was dancing for her, and she could not follow through with killing her baby! She knows she has some hurdles ahead of her, but is choosing to see this child as a blessing in disguise. She is at peace with the decision and was able to laugh with me over the phone. God is good - ALL the time! Thank you for caring enough to pray for our clients and our staff!! May God bless your day! Linda When you read this, please say a prayer for this young woman and her baby right away. Also pray for Linda and all who do this important life-saving work every day. If you feel called to join me on Linda s prayer line to help save other women, babies, and families from the evil and pain of abortion, please send me your name and email address and I ll forward it to Linda to be added to her prayer email list. Or you can send an email directly to her at fcps.tlc@gmail.com and tell her that you d like to be added to her prayer list. We need to put our faith to work in our own backyard wherever and whenever we can! D.S. Parish Festival Update:
