KNOW YOUR RIGHTS, USING MEDIA IN MINISTRY Ryan Green What are my rights? Religious Service Exemption (RSE) in the law (Section 110[3]) - States we can play live or recorded music during our worship service, that is all - What about YouTube, Google Images, DVD s, the Bible? 3 Licenses you could need Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) to put lyrics on a screen Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) to play a good bit of movies Christian Copyright Solutions (CCS) to play music before & after services, camps, VBS, Fall Festival & more Are you streaming your church service or putting it on FB? That s another license. CCLI or CCS can help. Is it really wrong? This year a judge ruled to allow the term stealing while referencing copyright infringement in the BMG V. Cox case. Joshua 6 & 7 - Achan s sin - Even though nobody saw it, God knew Leviticus 4:13 Even if we are unaware it is till wrong. Repent and move forward We want God to bless our worship services and yet we are using materials that belong to someone else.

What can we do? Use materials that come with your curriculum. Get permission to use someone s materials. Purchase materials that include a church license - Yancy - Hillsong Kids worship DVDs Use free materials that have given permission to be used in church. - Life Church, Seeds, River Valley Network, Crossroads Kids Club Free Royalty Free Images https://blog.hootsuite.com/20-free-stock-photo-sites-social-media-images/ Pexels Stockvault IM Creator Raw Pixel About Ryan Green Ryan is husband to an amazing woman and father to four incredible kids, has served as a children s pastor for 14 years. He is currently serving as the Associate Pastor at East Clemson Christian Fellowship and the State Children s Ministry Director in South Carolina. He is active in various ministries and loves to serve however he can.

BECOME A CHILDREN S PASTOR WHO SERVES THE WHOLE CHURCH Joy Hensley Our tendency is to get so caught up in the minors that we forget about the majors. Greg Baird Ministry to kids can feel isolating, but that is not how God intended the church or you to operate. We are one body (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) The Church is made of all generations (Psalm 78:5-8) We need to hear and share testimony (Psalm 22; Mark 5:18-20) Prayer is a necessity (James 5:13-20) Fellowship/community is a sign of health (Acts 2:42) You need the local church just as much as the local church needs you! Logically, isolation is dangerous. How you model your relationship with the church will impact the kids and families you serve, the volunteers you oversee, and the church s view of leadership. Kids and Families - Attitudes, values, and thoughts about the church are being formed and shaped. - Active Participation Volunteers - Ministry is more about equipping others to embrace their God-given vision than it is about getting things done. Volunteers learn how to serve from you.

Church s View of Leadership - Align your vision with the leadership of the church. Members of your congregation should be able to grasp what you are doing based off of this alignment. Make yourself physically visible to the church so they can see you in action. Special occasions Announcements Before/During/After times of ministry Ministry Opportunities Social settings Your individual call to serve kids may be specific, but God s call to serve people is not. Serve and Pastor Intentionally and Practically Kids and Families Volunteers (Youth and Adult) Lead Pastor Pastoral Staff/Leadership Team Church Members About Joy Hensley When she was fourteen, Joy sensed God was calling her to minister to kids.
