BECOME A CHILDREN S PASTOR WHO SERVES THE WHOLE CHURCH Joy Hensley Our tendency is to get so caught up in the minors that we forget about the majors. Greg Baird Ministry to kids can feel isolating, but that is not how God intended the church or you to operate. We are one body (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) The Church is made of all generations (Psalm 78:5-8) We need to hear and share testimony (Psalm 22; Mark 5:18-20) Prayer is a necessity (James 5:13-20) Fellowship/community is a sign of health (Acts 2:42) You need the local church just as much as the local church needs you! Logically, isolation is dangerous. How you model your relationship with the church will impact the kids and families you serve, the volunteers you oversee, and the church s view of leadership. Kids and Families - Attitudes, values, and thoughts about the church are being formed and shaped. - Active Participation Volunteers - Ministry is more about equipping others to embrace their God-given vision than it is about getting things done. Volunteers learn how to serve from you.
Church s View of Leadership - Align your vision with the leadership of the church. Members of your congregation should be able to grasp what you are doing based off of this alignment. Make yourself physically visible to the church so they can see you in action. Special occasions Announcements Before/During/After times of ministry Ministry Opportunities Social settings Your individual call to serve kids may be specific, but God s call to serve people is not.
