Contact Brother David Garcia: dvgarcia02@yahoo.com GRAND KNIGHT'S REPORT Brother Knights and families, thank you for all the hard work and support during April. As we approach the end of the Fraternal Year, we find ourselves needing a minimum of eleven new Brother Knights to meet our goal of becoming a Star Council. We can still achieve Star Council if we make a concerted effort to bring in new members. Many Catholic men are just waiting for an invitation. Ask the men you know at church if they would like to join. If you don't have a form 100, just get their name and contact information (phone and/or email address) and get it to John Olenoski, Membership Director, or myself. We also have numerous First Degree members who need to obtain their Second and Third Degree. There will be a major degree exemplification on May 27, 2017 at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church & School located at 7601 Burnet Road, Austin Texas 78757. Registration begins at 7 a.m. in Wozniak Hall (north side of campus). Mass will begin at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast following. The degree programs start at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be served lunch after the Third Degree Ceremony. On another note, we will have officer elections for the new fraternal year on Thursday, June 2 at our regularly scheduled business meeting. Finally, on Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m. we will have our first ever Spanish 1 st Degree Exemplification in the Benish Center. What a May 2017! John Hicks (512) 657-3234 bigcheese10@austinrr.com. SATURDAY MORNING PRAYER MINISTRY. Our Deacons are leading a morning prayer group Saturdays at 7 a.m. in the Eucharistic Chapel. It lasts about 30 minutes. It has been an honor serving as your worthy advocate and a special privilege to be a part of this council since 1998. As most of you know, I will be moving to Katy, Texas in June as the house goes up for sale in two weeks. I am going to miss all of you that supported me through both good and rough times. My status as a Fourth Degree will remain here and my new parish as a Knight will be sometime in September at Immaculate Conception in Sealy, Texas. I will be back for events to cook and Page 3 of 5
help out throughout the year. James Poche and Walter Yucikas are also helping me sometime down the line moving items to the Garage Sale. They will also be my compadres when I come back to town. I loved being a part of a brotherhood that goes beyond words as we all are called to the table. Nothing is better than to love and give to others in need. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers and I'll still be on the newsletter mailing list! Vivat Jesus, 512-217-7279 Tom Ciapi topgoldcats@gmail.com FINANCIAL SECRETARY REPORT I'm pleased to announce that I'm officially your Financial Secretary so you'll start seeing my name on the forms instead of Jeff's. Thanks Jeff for running such a tight ship and making the transition smooth and painless. One of the biggest FS tasks is tracking our path to Star Council. It's almost the end of the year and we're nearly out of time to earn that status. There are two categories that stand out: New membership and current insurance members. Congratulations to the council for meeting our goal of net, plus six, insurance members. As for new members, we are almost half way to our quota of 15. Things are looking good though. Come out and support the exemplification on May 26 when our new brothers will pull us over the line. We have 17 brothers who are outstanding on dues. If you, or someone you know, doesn't have their 2017 membership card and think dues are current, or if you need assistance paying your dues, please reach out to me and we'll take care of it.
