Several other parish organizations will join us for this vigil and prayer on the new church property facing Austin Street. We will position the small white crosses along the sidewalk to remind all of the terrible number of lives terminated by abortion. Tom Sedlacek is the project office for this rosary and vigil. Jim Tingay, Bill Aguirre, and myself will assist him along with Tom s wife, Liz. If you would like to help with this project, please let Tom or me know. This will count toward your requirements for the ACE Wings. After the Living Rosary we will process into church for Stations of the Cross and then to the Parish Hall for the Lenten Soup Supper. I hope you will stand and pray with us and be a voice for the unborn. ANNUNCIATION Behold the handmaid of the Lord The feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated on March 25, exa c t ly n ine months before Christmas. The words the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary were incredibly powerful, that she would be the mother of the Savior, and she certainly could have said No. But in complete and humble submission to God s will, she expresses her consent: Be it done to me according to Thy word. That moment marks the beginning of Jesus in His human nature. Through Mary He is a member of the human race. The world, as heaven had decreed, was not to have a Savior until Mary had given her consent to the angel s proposal. The moment she consents, the mystery of love and mercy promised to mankind four thousand years before, foretold by the prophets, desired by the saints, is wrought on earth. From that moment the Word of God is forever united to humanity. On this day the Savior of mankind, true God and true man, is conceived in the womb of Mary. On this day Our Lady receives a name more sublime than can be understood: Mother of God. Today is the beginning of our salvation. Source: Catholic Encyclopedia, Bible, and other readings.

Pisceans possess a gentle, patient, malleable nature. They have many generous qualities and are friendly, good natured, kind and compassionate, and sensitive to the feelings of those around them. They respond with the utmost sympathy and tact to any suffering they encounter. However, they dislike discipline and confinement, and tend to react emotionally rather than rationally. Pisceans are very creative and crave recognition, but dislike criticism. Often they are secretive and vague, and tend to be overly idealistic. VOLUME XXXIX NUMBER IX MARCH 2011 PAGE 7 Memo from Your Grand Knight Dear Brother Knights, On March 9th we begin the season of Lent, a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares us for Christ s resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which we attain redemption. How often do you hear the question, what did you give up for Lent? Chocolate, beer, smoking, desserts, cursing, and broccoli are a few common answers. I ask you, rather, What will you DO for Lent? Why not spend time in the adoration chapel, attend daily Mass more often, say the rosary daily, go to Stations of the Cross, give to charity rather than eat out, attend the Living Rosary on the Feast of the Annunciation, volunteer at the OLG pantry or around our churches, visit the sick, and how about attending a KC meeting and be an active Knight. These are some things you can do instead of giving something up. And pray, always pray. Mark your calendars for the annual Walk for Life event. This year it is sponsored by the South Texas Pregnancy Care Center and will be at the Starke Park Bowl on April 2nd. Council 3412 will purchase the banner to be used in the walk, and we will supply bottled water and man the water stations. There will be no meal after the walk/run event. Volunteers should contact Charles Villeneuve or me to sign up. In case you did not read the local paper, KCs have been given the sole beer concession for the Fourth of July Freedom Fiesta in downtown Seguin. Yes, this will be some work, but I think we can have a great time doing it. It will be only one day. Thanks for your support! Fraternally, Chaplain s Message Dear Brother Knights, Last month we began our discussion of the Marks of the Church; one, holy, catholic, and apostolic. Just as there are three persons in one God, we are all one in the church. This month I want to talk about holy. The church is founded in love, and Holy only in love. Christ, Who is the Son of Divine Love, reveals to us that the church is holy because of grace even though its members are sinful. Grace is God communicating the divine self to us, which is to say, sharing Divine Love with us forever. In this Love we find a source of power that we find nowhere else. The church canonizes certain of the faithful, that is, solemnly proclaims that they lived with great virtue and fidelity to the Gospel. We call those so canonized saints and they are a source of hope and inspiration for us all! Especially in Mary, we see what God s power of love will ultimately achieve in each of us! Next month we will talk about the third mark of the church, catholic. You are in my prayers daily, please keep me in yours. Father Dennis Darilek, Chaplain 60 YEAR ANNIVERSARY Msgr Bruno Hubertus Council 3412 will celebrate its 60th birthday in May. We need a project officer to plan and coordinate our celebration. Somebody Else is retired and can t do it. We need YOU! Greg Seidenberger Grand Knight gjseid@gvec.net 830-303-0625 May is also the month we begin the election cycle for Council Officers. Please start thinking about what position you want to serve in. You could be the next Grand Knight! Let me know what office you are interested in. Will you say YES?
