However, I ask all the elected officers and the membership to help me continue all the worthy projects that we do for the church and community. Brothers, we need to continue to try and recruit new members for our council. I want to invite all inactive members to become active again. We need some younger members to get active if this council is to continue in the future. The 20 th Annual Benefit Raffle Dinner has already kicked off and we will need a lot of help, as usual, to be as successful as we ve been. All the work we do for this project will go toward benefitting the handicapped citizens of our community. Please be generous with your time. The next social will be on Wednesday, August 15 and will be a Health social. The guest speaker will be Dr. Ted Hudspeth, so come and bring your questions for him to answer. The KC Mass will be on August 19 and the Rosary will begin at 8:45am. Please plan to attend and sit in the reserved seating area so we can show solidarity. Again, congratulations to all the scholarship winners and I wish them all the best as they begin the new school year, which is right around the corner! The Future of Council 2952 Mike Pearson Whew! We dodged another one! In the privacy of your own mind, how many of you had similar thoughts on the morning of July 4, the day after the monthly business meeting? How many of you even knew there was a business meeting at which members of the State Council had come and told our Worthy Grand Knight either he took the job another year or they were going to shut down the council for lack of leadership? How sad. In a council of almost 400 members, NO ONE feels the calling to be a leader. I m sure we all have reasons. I have two my health and I have already served for two years. Sounds good, until you remember the current Grand Knight is totally blind and has now served four years. Is it perhaps because we tell, and also show by example, the Grand Knight that we re behind him, way behind? Or perhaps we should remember this problem the next time we go running to him to mediate a personal problem between two members, or the next time we say, Y all need to do (or not do). Well, elections for Grand Knight comes up again next year. Will you stand up? Jack Stang
Installation Social Fr. Michael Galea of Our Lady of Pompeii in Tickfaw led everyone in the opening prayer. On behalf of JFK Council 2952, Grand Knight Mike Pearson presented a $500 donation to St. Vincent DePaul Society for their Uniforms for Kids program. On hand to accept the donation were Beth Dashbach (left) and Mimi Nothacher (center). A Prestigious Honor Grand Knight Mike Pearson and his board of officers were installed for the Columbian Year 2018-2019 During the Knights of Columbus Leadership Seminar held in Dutchtown on Saturday, July 21 st, Grand Knight Mike Pearson accepted an award from Special Olympics Louisiana on behalf of John F. Kennedy Council 2952. The council was recognized by Special Olympics Louisiana as the Outstanding Civic Organization in the state for the year 2017, a very prestigious honor. Normally, Special Olympics Louisiana will recognize a large organization such as The Rotary Club or the Knights of Columbus for their work helping mentally challenged citizens, but this is the first time ever that a local KC council was singled out for their contributions.. as was Ladies Auxiliary President Debbie Quebedeaux and her board of officers. Frank Zaeringer, Special Olympics Chairman of the Louisiana State Council, presented Grand Knight Mike Pearson with an award from Special Olympics Louisiana recognizing JFK Council 2952 as the Outstanding Civic Organization of 2017.
