Word from the Grand Knight Brother Knights, October was another very busy month for Council 1487. Thank you to all our brothers who volunteered to help with Holy Family School s Trunk or Treat. Our council always sets up a superb and spooky display, and this year was no exception. In fact, I think we, as Knights, have as much fun with the event as the kids do! Great job guys! Our council will be participating in a couple of upcoming events. In addition to our monthly social and business meeting, our annual Tootsie Roll drive is coming up in November. On the morning of December 1 st, our council will be participating in Holy Family School s yearly Santa s Brunch. We will need volunteers to help cook that morning-- if you can help, please contact John Tierney or myself. Thanks again for all of your service this month and God Bless! Yours respectfully, Brian Listerman Grand Knight (606)694-7595 For those who are not yet Knights Pre-membership Listerman1@yahoo.com news and data are available at kofc.org/joinus. Insurance News Think You Are Too Old for Coverage? Maybe Not You are never too young or too old to consider purchasing life insurance. If you have a financial need for coverage, or will in the future, a permanent life insurance policy can be just the thing you need. When you are young and presumably healthy, coverage will be very inexpensive when compared to purchasing the same policies when you are older. If you ve put off purchasing coverage, or you realize that you may need additional insurance, the Order may still be able to help you, even if other companies cannot. In fact, in 2012, the issue age of our permanent life insurance products was extended to age 80. Naturally, your health, and whether or not you smoke, will be taken into consideration, so underwriting standards for risk and age apply. But, the extension is a great blessing for me and it could be for you too. Now I* can help members that I* couldn t help before. Are you or one of your brother knights one of those members? Whether you re 18 or 80, the Knights of Columbus has products that will work for you and your family. I* look forward to discussing coverage with you. On October the 25 th the Knights once again participated in what is fast becoming an annual Halloween celebration. After three successive years, it appears that the Holy Family School Trunk or Treat is here to stay. Held outside on the school grounds, the weather couldn t have been better. There were lots of Halloween decorated trunks" on hand provided by school parents for the entertainment and delight of not only the Holy Family School s vampires, ghosts, goblins, and werewolves; but, since this celebration was once again open to the public, there were many local community skeletons, pumpkins, witches, ballerinas, and all sorts of characters on hand as well. Everyone was looking for and had a great time. The main course of the evening was of course. CANDY! and there was lots of it to be had. In addition to candy, the K of C s Grand Werewolf and his little wolves were there to give out gallons and gallons of hot chocolate with marshmallows while the Deputy Grand Vampire and his helpers stayed busy giving away all the fresh popcorn they could pop. The Mystical Air Dragon, Keith Salisbury, provided balloon creations by the score. The school also held two contests. Congratulations for the best trunk" provided by a classroom, the Ghostbusters Trunk, won by the 1 st - 2 nd Grade and the best trunk" provided by an individual, the Killer Kitchen Trunk, won by Kelly Marcum and Kelly Stewart Miller. Way to go! It was a great effort put forth by everyone involved and has to be deemed a complete success. A very special Thank You goes out to Amber Willhelm for the time and effort she put forth to organize this function. Without you, and people like you, it wouldn't have been possible. See you all next year! November 2018 May they be blessed, whoever provides a brother a copy of this newsletter. 5 of 9
