Plenty of wild animals were in the forest, so he planned to kill some deer and other game and have a dance when he was ready to set up house-keeping. But before the house was completed, he took ill and thought he was going to die, so he sent down to the settlement for a preacher. Church services were held in his home, and he became a christian. This was the first Christian church service held in this part of the country as far as Littleton could find out. After this it became customary to have chruch at the homes until school houses were built, then church services were held in the school houses.the property had a grove of sugar maples from which they made all the sugar for the families.
