From Our Pastor, Fr. Jim... Welcoming the Region to St. Clare Oktoberfest We are in our final prep week for our big Oktoberfest! Two of the main things I emphasize each year are: Safety and Hospitality. We need everyone to help keep these two goals in mind as we welcome the entire region to our event. Each year we add extra things to keep the grounds safe for all. This year we are adding extra barriers at all the street entrances and our police force is helping with other safety issues. Thanks for keeping an eye out for any way you can help us keep our event safe. Along with that, we trust that each parishioner will go out of his or her way to be extra hospitable to every guest. Look for opportunities such as: Helping an elderly person up the steps or over the curb Offering your seat to someone needing a break Visiting with guests while waiting in line Offer directions to someone who seems lost Smiles and greetings (Wilkommen!) to everyone you see! A big part of what makes our Oktoberfest such a success is that it s a wonderful, welcoming place for people of all ages. Thanks for helping keep this tradition going by the hospitality you offer next Saturday. God s Peace, Fr. Jim Deiters **Please remember our 5:00 Mass next Saturday night (Oktoberfest) is pushed up an hour and will be held at 4:00 p.m. Recent Deaths Dottie Boehmer, Mother of Debbie Oitker Woody Young, Husband of Kathy Young May they rest in the peace of Christ. I was a nonpracticing Catholic, and after finding a rosary that I had carried around for a number of years, I began contemplating why I had always considered myself Catholic yet neglected my faith. When I decided, by the grace of God, to pray that rosary, I realized that my love of material comforts was rooted in my desire for the infinite and that I would never be fully satisfied without God. I began attending daily Mass, entered seminary...and now a happily ordained priest. To those discerning, I simply say, Live every day as though you are being called for greatness.
