Most of my yard looks green and healthy but there are a few spots that look just awful. It seems so strange that green grass is in one spot and just a few inches away it is dry and barren. The problem is there are a few areas where my sprinklers are not covering properly and the spots that do not receive water are dying even though they are only inches away from the water source. As the grass misses out on the water it becomes susceptible to disease and death. I thought about my yard in terms of how we sometimes look as the family of God. In the same room on Sunday there are people who are growing and thriving and others seem to miss the source of water. The source is not the service or the music or the preaching. The source of living water is always Christ. The reason some are growing and others are not usually is not just one reason. It can be a variety of reasons. In my yard the delivery system is not working in a few spots. Sometimes as a church our delivery system of sharing the living water does not reach every one. Some are receiving the living water, but others are missing it even though they are only a few seats away. Not everyone comes to Christ the same way so there must be a variety of ways we share the living water. It can be taking the time to make relationships; or going out of our way to care for folks; or praying daily for individuals we know are struggling. We must find a way to deliver the living water. Sometimes the problem is what the person brings with them. Too often we allow our past experiences to block God s living water for us now. We cannot get past old hurts; or previous church experiences or personal preferences and thus we are not open to receive the water. Just like my yard if we fail to get the living water we become susceptible to all kinds of disease like poor attitudes, critical spirits and other things that dry up our souls. When parts of my yard fails to get water it begins to dry up. We cannot live without water. The same is true spiritually. When we fail to deliver the message properly or when we refuse to receive the water because of painful pasts the result is a dry and barren soul. My prayer is that each person at White Chapel and those being influenced by folks from White Chapel will find this living water for their lives. God wants our lives to be green and growing. He wants us to be alive spiritually. Beginning in July we are starting a new series based on Florida s Shark Week. In Florida we know in the ocean there are hidden dangers below the surface. There are also hidden dangers in our daily lives that rob us of the relationships we need to have with God and each other. We will be examining these relationship killers and discovering ways to heal broken relationships and broken hearts each week in July. It is going to be fun and informative. I pray God will pour his living water into your heart and into your family and that you may be the green and growing life He desires. You are Loved, Pastor Steve
