Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time A PRAYER FOR FATHERS God our Father, We give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old. We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation; May they find the courage and perseverance To balance work, family and faith in joy & sacrifice. We pray for our own fathers Who have supported and challenged us; May they continue to lead in strong & gentle ways. We remember fathers around the world Whose children are lost or suffering; May they know that the God of compassion Walks with them in their sorrow. We pray for men who are not fathers But still mentor and guide us With fatherly love and advice. We remember fathers, grandfathers, And great-grandfathers who are no longer with us But who live forever in our memory And nourish us with their love. Amen. SOLOS...will meet Tuesday, June 19 at 6 PM at Log Cabin in Zelienople for dinner. Please call Bob Lupi at 412-364- 4921 if you plan to attend. DAILY MASS CHANGE EVERY WEDNESDAY, BEGIN- NING JUNE 27 THRU AUGUST 29, DAILY MASS WILL BE AT 9 AM. Page Three SJN VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL JUNE 25-29 For Registered Families: Information packets will be available beginning this weekend, June 16/17 in the church lobby. Please be sure to claim yours as soon as possible. The packets will contain group assignments for your children, iron-on transfers for their T-shirts, music CDs, and other pertinent instructions. VBS Crafts Needs: Empty toilet tissue rolls are needed for one of our crafts projects. Please bring donations to the Education Office and place in the donation box by Mr. James Office. Thank you. THANKS How wonderful to be so beautifully reminded of God's special gift of Eucharist last weekend. Several of our children who just received Jesus in their First Communion did wear their lovely dresses and some young guys looked really sharp in their sportcoats. Help us all to reverently receive and thus become the Body of Christ for each other. We are blessed. Let's be Eucharist- give thanks! BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN Today we kick off the annual Baby Bottle Campaign. Please take a baby bottle home and fill it with your spare change. Then bring it back to Mass next week-end. All proceeds will benefit Women s Choice Network to help them buy sonogram machines. GOT QUESTIONS ABOUT CHURCH? The Catholic church is open to all and holds great spiritual treasure and tradition. If you have questions and would like to know more about this church, then come to an informal gathering on Monday night, June 25 at 7 PM. No obligation or pressure, just an open forum. Bring a friend and come. Feel free to call Fr. Al or Barb Stokes for more information. GOD S TIME We either pay attention to or ignore clock time as we play in the summer sun and note the earth s tilt and the lengthening days. We live by time. We reckon time in seconds and minutes and hours, or we use broader chunks like suppertime and summertime. God keeps another sort of time. God speaks to us of saving time, that is, the time of salvation. This sense of time is called kairos, and this time is always now, always present and available, always revealing, often surprising. Ezekiel and the Gospel of Mark remind us that our labor and our plotting and our planning rest in God. For God takes our smallest efforts and makes of them great works. Paul points us to the harvest time, urges us to be watchful for its coming, and calls us to recognize that we must spend our time pleasing God. IT'S ABOUT PARISH WORK We have many young people already working to prepare for Confirmation. They have participated in 5 weekly classes with Mass and started going out to serve the poor in several locations. The SJN community promised them prayers and support at the Rite of Signing at Mass. Do you remember when you said YES to Fr. Al's question concerning this? Hope so because now we ask you to keep that promise. Would you please take a Confirmation candidates' name from the basket next to the Bible in the narthex? Choose this person's name and include them in your daily prayers from now till Confirmation. Perhaps learn more about them from the Spirit book where they have placed their signed covenant. Then write them a note to help them be aware of their important place in the life of this faith community. Leave notes in the box next to the Spirit book. They will be presented at our retreat day in August. So we need the whole parish to do a part of this confirmation prep process for no one comes to the Spirit alone. Help us all grow together in God's life and love!

Page Four June 17, 2012 Steubenville Reunion June 21, 6-10:00 PM For all those students who are attending the Steubenville Youth Conference, this will be a time to gather as a group again after the excitement of the Conference weekend is over and check in with one another. In fact the farmer doesn t even understand it, for the seed grows even when he sleeps. As parents we can influence our children but nothing we do can guarantee results.
