YOUNG PEOPLES: Save the date! Young Peoples begins on Tuesday, September 25 th! Join us for a fun night of indoor and outdoor water activities. All youth high school age and higher are welcome. Looking forward to seeing you there!! There is a meeting today after the morning service in the sanctuary for all youth and their parents. EVENING SERVICES: Beginning tonight September 16th in our evening service, we will be studying some of the texts of the Bible that make us uncomfortable, confuse us, and maybe even make us cringe a little. If you have a text that has always puzzled you, let Pastor Josh know and he can add it for a Sunday evening. Our first text is Genesis 3:14-19 -"He shall rule over you." PROFESSION OF FAITH CLASSES: Profession of Faith Classes will be starting in September. Anyone interested in taking this class both young and old please speak to Pastor Josh. This class is open to all and does not have to lead to making Profession of Faith. If interested or have any questions please contact Pastor Josh. PULPIT SUPPLY: Next Sunday, September 23 rd Pastor Josh is off. Pastor Jim Poelman will be with us to lead our morning service and Pastor Brian Horrobin will be leading our evening service. The Wallaceburg Christian School is hosting our Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 29 at the Country View Golf Course near Chatham. Shot gun start is at 1 pm. Cost is $85 which includes 18 holes of golf, golf carts, and a smorgasbord dinner, with door prizes and awards. Non golfers can also come to the dinner at 6 pm for $30. It promises to be a wonderful day with a great meal, as we celebrate and support Christian education in Wallaceburg. LAST FRIDAY FELLOWSHIP: The " Last Friday Friday-Coffee-Fellowship" will start up again on Friday(of course),september 28 th at 9:30 am in the Fellowship Hall of the Living Hope Christian Reformed Church, corner Pontiac Drive and Exmouth street in Sarnia. An informal morning of fun, good food and great fellowship will start with a full pot of coffee and goodies! Our Friday's Fellowship will include assorted games and pleasant conversations. It is a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community that abortion kills children and that the church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception to natural death. Life Chain is Sunday, September 30. Life Chain will take place at the corner of McNaughton Street at James Street from 2-3 pm. Signs will be available. Council News from September 12, 2018 1. Council was welcomed to a new year as Council by the Chair. Council is looking forward to a new year in leading the congregation to know Christ and to make Him known. Council took time together to pray for the needs in the congregation. 2. Council heard reports from the Ministry Teams and reviewed the schedule. 3. The next Classis Meeting is at Strathroy East CRC on September 25, 2018. Our delegates are Pastor Josh, Jim Kraayenbrink as Elder, and Lucas DePooter as Deacon. Alternates are Charley Feddes and Nick Dykema. 4. Council approved the Worship Committee planning a Candlelight Service on December 23 at 5 pm. 5. Council approved a motion from the Property Committee to replace the remaining light fixtures with LED lights at a cost of approximately $8000 including labour with a rebate coming back of about $3000. 6. The Pastor Evaluation process has begun. Dick Bulsink and Jim Kraayenbrink will meet with Pastor Josh to go over the Pastor Evaluation Form. 7. Council accepted the resignation of Marlene Allaer as a Deacon. Council decided to leave the deacon position vacant at this time. 8. Council reviewed a second quarter Congregational Assistance Program report. CAP continues to be utilized well. 9. Council approved a letter from Sarah Kraayenbrink requesting her membership to be removed as she is attending Forest Baptist Church. Council prays the Lord s blessing for Sarah as she worships in her new church home. 10. Council shared a time of Mutual Censure. Mutual Censure is a helpful and encouraging time as Council reflects on how they are doing as office bearers. 11. Faith Builders teachers and materials were reviewed and discussed. Faith Builders will begin in late September. The teachers are Charley Feddes - grade 7/8, Pastor Josh - 9/10, and Lisa DePooter - 11/12. 12. Council approved various church bookings. 13. The next Council Meeting is October 10, 2018.
