Please join us for a Family Mass on Wednesday, September 11 at either 4:30 or 6:30 pm. Family Mass has become a tradition at SJN, a way for Good Shepherd children to connect what they have learned in the atrium to our celebration of the Mass. If you have been a lector or altar server at past Family Masses, please call the Religious Education secretary at X12 to sign up as a minister for one of these September 11 masses. GOOD SHEPHERD BEGINS... on Tuesday, September 17. Students will report for a full session on the day and time they are registered. Last minute registrations will be accepted, but please remember to list three possible times as many days and times no longer have space. GOOD SHEPHERD LEVEL 1 CLASS We are thrilled to report that our Level I Good Shepherd Course will take place after all. A late surge in interest by several people, including St. John Neumann parishioners, has revived this course. The new dates are: October 4, 11, 18, and 25; November 1, 8, 15 and 22; December 6 and 13; January 10 and 24. All sessions are on Fridays from 9 am - 3 pm. SACRAMENTAL CONFIRMATION This Sunday, September 8, our Confirmation candidates are away at Martina for their Confirmation retreat with Fr. Joe Freedy and others. Please keep them in your prayers at this important step in their faith life and the life of the church. Take a look at the spirit book to pray for one of them by name as we prepare for this sacrament on December 7 with Bishop Zubik. COME AND SEE - RCIA Don t keep the grace and love of Eucharist to yourself. Invite someone to come and see the gifts and treasures of the Catholic Church. This Catholic Church holds many treasures of faith and love. We share them daily through scripture and liturgy and tradition. Let's look around and share them with someone. Extend the invitation to those around you to come and worship in the Catholic Church too. Few come without a personal invitation so please do your part to help our community grow. Come with them on Sunday, Sept 15 at 10:30 AM (or after the 9:30 Mass) to see what the church offers to them and all of us. There is no obligation to join the church, just an invitation to come and see- inquire and ask the questions! BAPTISM PREP Special Blessings to you and your family if you are anticipating the birth of a baby, adopting a child or have already welcomed a new life into your home. To prepare for this new life of grace and love, we offer a Baptism preparation session NEXT WEEK Sunday, Sept. 15, from 10:30 till noon. This time for information, reflection and sharing is led by a team couple. Call ext. 12. SACRAMENTS If you have a child over the age of 7 interested in First Reconciliation and Communion, or a teen past 10th grade who has not been confirmed or you, yourself, missed any of these sacraments growing up, PLEASE call Barb Stokes to begin preparation for these special times of coming closer to God s life and love. SPIRITUAL PRAYING WITH THE GOSPEL OF JOHN Last chance to order! Consider a daily reflection on the Gospel of John for your fall reading. Magnificat has published a superb little book to lead us deeper into the scriptures. If you are interested in purchasing a copy for yourself or as a gift, please call the Rel Ed office before Sept. Our price will depend on the number we order. HOW IMPORTANT IS FAMILY, FAITH & FUN? Let s give it 5 stars and plan some exciting events for these 3. We need 3 or 4 people who will plan creative, fun activities for families. Share your ideas with Barb Stokes at ext. 13. LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN What is it? Simply put- an adult or teen receives the Word of God from the celebrant at Mass (the priest) and leads the children from the adult assembly to a special place where they can read and reflect on the Sunday Scriptures. Usually it includes the First Reading and the Gospel, a song, the creed, the intercessions plus a short reflection time. Well written resources for the adult to follow are prepared and waiting. ALL WE NEED IS YOU! Please consider this important ministry for the children at SJN. Are you willing to pray over this call to share the Word? Consider it and let Barb Stokes know if you need more information or want to look at the excellent resources. K of C LIVING ROSARY The Knights of Columbus hare having their Bi-annual Living Rosary on Weds. evening, Sept. 11. The ceremony begins at 7 PM at their Wexford Council Home located on Swinderman Rd.
