Fourth Sunday of Advent Year C December 23, 2018 Readings: MI 5:1-4A; HEB 10:5-10; LK 1:39-45 Readings on 1101 DEACON S SPEAKIN Dear sisters and brothers, As I reflect on my past fifty-six years as a member of Newman Center the last ten years as Parish Life Coordinator I m still amazed and so grateful for the many blessings that God as showered on me. Not only have my relationships with long-time friends flourished, but also, I have enjoyed meeting and ministering to and with so many new parishioners and families who have joined our faith community. God s love has been our beacon as we ve continued on the path that Jesus has called us to follow. I am forever thankful for the wonderful members of our staff who have given so much of themselves as they work to further our mission. On behalf of Luci and me, thank you for a joy-filled life and I pray that the Christmas season will be overflowing with truly good news for you and your families. May you enjoy all the streams of love that flow into your life: The love from family and friends; the love from parents and children; and the love from God. Celebrate love all life-long for it is the breath of your existence and the best of all reasons for living. - From Simple Prayers & Blessings Feliz Navidad, Buon Natale, Feliz Natal, Joyeux Noel, Frohliche Weihnachten, Maligayang Pasko. Oh and by the way - Merry Christmas! Peace and Love Deacon John

Have a Merry Christmas! The office will also be closed on Tuesday, January 1. Behold Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son. Behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son. Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. When Jesus came, He did not shun our world and its poverty and conflict. He embraced it. And He desires to embrace us today, in this day. Right where we are. Right where we are feeling most distant. Right where we are feeling least religious or ready. May we behold Jesus's presence in our hearts and in the hearts of all people. Advent Prayer Presider: Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word. Luke 1:38 Mary could become the "temple of God's Word because she was so ready to do God's will. As we approach this anniversary of our redemption, let's spend the day placing our life in God's hands, embracing the ways He will come to us and let us be His instrument for others. All: We want to be like Mary, Your mother. Her wonderful courage and strength inspire us to do the same. She simply said Yes and the impossible was done. Thank you, Lord, for this Advent journey. The anticipation has filled our lives and made us long for a closer relationship with you. Nothing will be impossible with God.
