#SacredHeartProud Raymond Calandro 78 2018-19 Distinguished Graduate Congratulations to Raymond Calandro for being selected as our 2018-19 Distinguished Graduate. A life-long parishioner of Sacred Heart and a second generation student, Raymond is living a legacy of love for Sacred Heart passed down from his parents. Along with his wife Dorothy, a 30-year Sacred Heart educator, they are passing that legacy on to their three daughters, all Sacred Heart alumnae who are also involved in school and church. Sacred Heart Home & School would like to acknowledge the sponsors that supported our Annual Tiger Trails fundraiser, which took place on Friday, November 30th. During our event each student completed cross-fit inspired workout stations. The students also raised money for the event and were rewarded for their hard work with an event t-shirt, goodie bag, and/or entry in a drawing for prizes that took place at our Fall pep rally. The money donated will benefit every student and teacher at Sacred Heart of Jesus School. Thank you sponsors! He was a theologian and a historian of the Church, and was a delegate to the Council of Trent. He was a reformer of Catholic universities in Germany. His success there led him to be called to Vienna to reform their university, but he couldn't win the people with preaching or fancy words but he won their hearts by ministering to the sick and dying during a plague. The people, the king, and the pope all wanted to make Peter bishop of Vienna, but Peter declined vigorously and administered the diocese for a year. One of the most important documents to come forth as a fruit of the Council of Trent was a new universal catechism. St. Peter played a significant role in the production of that catechism. He approached Christian doctrine in two ways: wisdom- including faith, hope, and charity -- and justice-- avoiding evil and doing good. These parts were linked by a section on sacraments. As intent as Peter was on keeping people true to the Catholic faith, he followed the Jesuit policy that harsh words should not be used, that those listening would see an example of charity in the way Catholics acted and preached. Peter died December 21, 1597. He is known as the Second Apostle of Germany and was named a Doctor of the Church. Saturday, December 22: Advent Weekday
