Joseph, warned in a dream, had already taken his family to safety in Egypt. 29 DEC (Saturday) SAINT THOMAS BECKET, Martyr (1118-1170) Becket held a number of prominent positions, in- and the Archdeacon of Canterbury. A friend of King Henry II, he became Chancellor of England and was appointed Archbishop of Canterbury in 1162. He was opposed to the King s interference in ecclesiastical matters, and was exiled several times. He was murdered in Canterbury Cathedral on 29 December 1170. Ministry and Group News Brown Bag Sunday Next week the St. Vincent de Paul Society will be outside all the church doors with their brown bags to accept your monetary donations, either cash or check. The Nativity Conference of St. Vincent de Paul is a very active one. Several times a week members go out to the needy of our parish bringing food or assistance with PG&E bills or rent. More and more of the needy in our parish are in need of rental assistance due to the skyrocketing rental prices in this area. These collections on the 5th Sundays make their good work possible. Please be generous. Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference is in need of volunteers. If you are able to help them help the poor in our area please call Mike Wilmer at 650/346-1089. WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES MASS The Archdiocese of San Francisco will offer its annual Wedding Anniversary Mass on 09 FEB 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral. NOVENA TO SAINT JOSEPH Beginning Wednesday, 02 JAN 2019, and every Wednesday evening after the Mass there will be a novena to St. Joseph. This novena will take about 20 minutes. In addition to the novena, once a month the Mass will be in honor of St. Joseph. All are welcome to join in this celebration in honor of St. Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary. ANTHONY S PADUA DINING ROOM St. Anthony s Padua Dining Room in Menlo Park is in great need of donations of food and clothing We prepare about 500 meals a day, our needs are large quantities of items. Your help will be much appreciated. MONTHLY DINNER MEETINGS FOR MEN DISCERNING A PRIESTLY VOCATION Interested in knowing more about the priesthood as a vocation? Discernment involves listening to God, learning about yourself, and seeking the guidance of others. Discernment is not a solitary endeavor. The offers two monthly meetings for men who are interested in discovering more about the priesthood. First Monday meetings are in Redwood City. First Thursday meetings are in San Francisco. The program each time is Eucharistic Adoration in the church, followed by dinner and discussion in the rectory.
