OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) Dear Parishioners, Congratulations to Victoria Strand, daughter of Nicholas & Erin Strand, who is baptized this weekend. May she grow in grace and favor. Our sympathy to Matt Peters on the passing of his mother. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. The start of school brings with it transitions transitioning from a slower pace of limited commitments to setting routines and clocks the transition of summer weather into cooler fall weather (though this year, what we will have is anyone s guess) the near stillness of our parish offices in the afternoons to them bustling with activity. In the midst of all of this, I hope we each can take time to thank God and ask for His grace. I hope that this academic year will bring growth and deeper holiness to all. At JIS, I am hoping that we can all see this as the largest and most important ministry of our parish. Especially, too, as we gear up for Faith Formation, to see this year as an opportunity for grace. Finally, I remind you that due to HIPAA regulations, I do not automatically receive word of hospitalizations. Lately, too, a few messages have been left after Friday noon when I am out of the office. I honestly do not check my office voice mail until Monday morning, so many times, the patient is already released and the hospital cannot tell me anything of where you went. If you are preparing for surgery, let me know before I would like to offer the Sacrament of Anointing before you go. If you are hospitalized, ask either a family member to call me (call the rectory number {934-5086}) or ask the nurse or chaplain to contact me. In the not so distant past, hospital staff would routinely ask about clergy and other visitors since HIPAA, this is no longer the case. Practically speaking, this means that if I were to approach the hospital staff and ask about someone, I have to present your full name (and sometimes have to spell it) before getting a room number. So if I don t know you are there, I will not be told you are there! In Christ, Fr. Todd J. Petersen ================================================================= WEEKLY SCHEDULE August 30 September 6, 2015 22 nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, August 30 8 AM Mass, Nicollet Catholic Daughters sign-ups, Narthex 10 AM Mass (+Pat Schmitz), St. Peter 11 AM Festival Meeting, Dustin s Corner Monday 8 AM Mass (+Vince Dumdei), Chapel 7 PM Baptism Class, Family Room Tuesday 8 AM Mass (+Fritz & +Jane Powers), Chapel First Day of JI School Grs. 1-6 8:15 AM School Prayer, Church Wednesday 8 AM Mass in Nicollet 10:30 AM Mass (+Mary Sis Holmstead), Benedictine 7 PM Confirmation Parent Mtg, MPR Thursday (note Mass time change) 9:30 AM School Mass (+Louise Lynch), Church First Day of JIS Kindergarten 1 10 PM Eucharistic Adoration, Chapel 3:30 PM Confessions, Chapel Friday 8 AM 1 st Friday Mass (+Nancy Schaus), Chapel Saturday 5 PM Mass (Parish Family), St. Peter 23 rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, September 6 8 AM Mass, Nicollet 10 AM Mass (+Margaret Michael), St. Peter Annual Church of St. Peter HARVEST FESTIVAL September 26-27, 2015 Silent Auction Hot Beefs French Toast Breakfast Bake Sale Wine Event Raffle Drawing

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!! SAVE THE DATE!!! January 10-13, 2016 PARISH MISSION with Deacon Ralph Poyo
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Sanctuary Choir Rehearsals Resume in September Expressing faith in the one, true God requires a different language - one of the most powerful languages being music. To penetrate the human heart where the desire for God resides, words alone do not suffice. We simply cannot love God with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength without lifting our voice in song. If you would like to share your gift of faith through music, join the Sanctuary Choir. The first rehearsal is Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Band Rehearsal Hall. There are no auditions, and all voice parts are needed. If you are an instrumentalist, brass, percussion, guitar, strings, we need you, too. Membership is open to 7 th graders on up. Church choir membership is one of the most demanding of volunteer ministries in the parish and your participation is a gift of service to the Catholic Church of St. Peter. The rewards are great: friendship, music-making and treats! Contact the director, Barbara Frank, with questions or concerns at barbara.frank@churchofstpeter.org! Rehearsals: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Sunday warm-up: 9:25 a.m. Mass: 10:00 a.m. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 2 nd Annual Benefit for Catholic Schools: Join Bishop John M. LeVoir for lunch on Saturday, September 12 at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 1421 6 th Street North, New Ulm! Reservations required by Thursday, September 3. Call 507-233-5325 or email cblickem@dnu.org. Make a difference for Catholic families and Catholic education.
MONDAY BIBLE STUDY Our Adult Bible Study is about to begin again. We meet on Monday mornings at 9:00 A.M in the Family Room, beginning on September 14 th. This year we will be alternating with looking at the Sunday Scriptures one week and going through the Bible Study, Mary, Jesus mother and ours. Here is the opening paragraph of the book. After centuries of employing patriarchs, prophets, kings, and sages in his saving plan for humanity, God reached the point in which he needed an extraordinary humble and reliable person to carry out his crucial mission. For this task he chose someone who, in today s world, might not be old enough to get a driver s permit and certainly would not be allowed to travel to World Youth without a chaperone. We are talking, of course, of Mary of Nazareth. We invite anyone who is interested to come, check out if this is what you might be interested in. Everyone is welcome! For further information, please call Terry at 934-4503. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SOME HARVEST FESTIVAL NOTES.. If you are asked to volunteer on either Saturday or Sunday (Sept. 26 / 27), please consider helping to make this year s Festival the best it can be!! In addition to donating items for the Silent Auction (mentioned elsewhere is this bulletin), the following areas are also seeking your assistance: YE OLE BAKE SHOP We would ask all parishioners to donate cakes, cookies, bars, breads, canned goods, Nationality goodies. These can be brought to the church Saturday morning, September 26 after 9 am. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Area Faith Community of the Apostles Peter and Paul, I am overwhelmed by the love, prayer, and support you have displayed for the next year of my life as a missionary. I am grateful for your generosity and cannot imagine doing this work of leading teens closer to Christ without this community. I mentioned three P s during my announcement last weekend and I wanted to briefly share them again: Prayer: Please pray for this mission of LifeTeen, the teenagers and their families, and that I may serve wholeheartedly. Partner: I would be honored to have you join me as a mission partner. Together we will change th lives of thousands of teenagers. Online donations and more information can be found here: donate.lifeteen.com/katrinas. Pass it on: We can continue to live out the Great Commission of making disciples by passing on this mission. Thank you, Area Faith Community, for joining me. You will continue to be in my daily prayers and it is an honor to serve the Kingdom with you. In Christ, Katrina Siebels ksiebels@lifeteen.com 507-995-6716
