Do you wonder what your Catholic spouse believes and why? Have you ever thought about entering the Catholic Church? Have you been baptized but have not yet received the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation? If you answered yes to any of these, we hope you ll consider the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Our RCIA program offers the opportunity to learn about the Church s beliefs, Biblical foundations, and beauty as well as her 2000-year-old history, traditions, and practices. Our classes focus on the teaching of the Church and the experience of being Catholic. They will prepare you to enter the Church at Easter, when we celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. Please join our RCIA process, to ask your questions, get answers, and share your own insights and faith story. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE AND ETERNITY TO GAIN! For more information, please contact us at (719) 633-2132, Ext. 0 or rcia@holytrinitycos.org. New Parishioners Not a parishioner of Holy Trinity? There are many reasons to become a registered member: religious education classes, opportunities for Christian service in the community, letters of recommendation to serve as godparents and sponsors for newcomers to the faith, pre-printed tithing envelopes (if desired), an annual report of your charitable offerings and a subscription to the Colorado Catholic Herald. Registration forms are available in the foyers or online www.holytrinitycos.org.

HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH November 18, 2018 From the Pastor s Desk Ten Ways to Improve Your Prayer Life Prayer is the key to salvation. St. Augustine says that he who prays well lives well; he who lives well dies well; and to he who dies well then all is well. St. Alphonsus reiterates the same principle: He who prays much will be saved; he who does not pray will be damned; he who prays little places in jeopardy his eternal salvation. The same saint asserted that there are neither strong people nor weak people in the world, but those who know how to pray and those who do not. In other words, prayer is our strength in all times and places. Each week we will offer words of encouragement to help us on the highway towards heaven through the effort to grow in our prayer life! 8. Retreats. To go deeper in prayer it s a good idea to set aside some time for a prolonged period of prayer; this we call a spiritual retreat. One of the most efficacious styles of retreats are Ignatian retreats. A retreat might last a whole month, or eight days, and even a weekend retreat can prove extremely valuable. Seeing the Apostles overwhelmed with work Jesus exhorted them: Come apart for a while and rest This rest that Jesus mentioned has classically been interpreted as a call to the spiritual retreat! Look at your calendar for the year and set aside some time. More extended periods of time for prayer allow for greater depth in prayer! Mass Schedule Changes Thanksgiving Day Mass is at 9:00 am. Blessing of the Food after Mass. There is no Adoration that day. There will be no Mass Friday, November 23, or Saturday morning, November 24. Blessing of the Food If you have any food items you would like to have blessed for your Thanksgiving meal, please bring them to Mass at 9am on Thanksgiving Day. Giving Tree Holy Trinity Parishioners have provided gifts to over sixty children every year!! Tags for the 2018 Giving Tree will be available November 17. Blue tags will designate boy gifts, Pink tags will designate girl gifts and green tags will designate a family gift. **Gifts will need to be returned with tag attached by December 16 ** If you would like more information about this ministry please contact Jane Biondi or Mary Thompson. HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH November 18, 2018 Advent Concert H.T. and Black Forest Lutheran Churches serving meals at the Marian House on Thanksgiving Day This year, Holy Trinity and Black Forest Lutheran Churches will be preparing and serving a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal at the Marian House Soup Kitchen on Thursday, November 22, instead of our normal LAST THURSDAY of the month (November 29 this year!). We switched with St. Paul's Church to work that day. We have all the volunteers needed for both Thanksgiving Day and for Thursday, November 29. Happy Thanksgiving to ALL! Evelyn & Dick Koprowski Volunteer Coordinators Altar Linen Ministry Each time our priests celebrate Mass, they use a number of different linens purificators that are used to wipe the chalices holding the Precious Blood and corporals where the sacred vessels containing the Body and Blood of the Lord are placed. We have a very devoted volunteer who works each week to make sure that all the linens used in the liturgy are carefully and reverently cleaned and ready to be used at the next Mass. However, she would like some help. This is a humble, behind-the-scenes ministry where you will receive many graces for your service. Please consider donating your time and talent for this ministry. After all, many hands make light work. Contact the parish office at 633-2132 x0 to volunteer. Adult Faith Formation Catholic Apologetics: Explaining our Beautiful Faith! Are you caught off-guard by challenges to our beliefs about Mary and the saints, Scripture and Tradition, purgatory, the Real Presence? Are you stymied by questions about the Crusades, the current scandal, the relationship between faith and science, the meaning of suffering, the problem of transgenderism? Are you inclined to pull the drapes and pretend you re not home when you see Mormon or Jehovah Witnesses approaching your door? In our four-part series beginning November 18 we will help you respond to tough questions and give you confidence to talk to, not hide from, those door-todoor missionaries. Date Nov 18 Dec 2 Dec 9 Dec 16 Topic Unapologetic Apologetics: The Basics Strangers at Your Door: Mormons (LDS) Strangers at Your Door: Jehovah Witnesses (JWs) Apologetics: Topics of our Time Join us Sundays at 9:15 AM in the Hope House. For more information about these and future Adult Faith Formation topics, contact Phil & Connie Pratt at 719-331- 8239 or check out our Adult Faith Formation webpage at www.holytrinitycos.org/ministriesparishgroups/ AdultFaithFormation.aspx. Senior/Family Dinner Dinner will be held Sunday, November 18, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm in the cafeteria. The cost is $3 per person. The menu includes turkey, dressing, yams, peas, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, salad, dessert, and rolls. Please RSVP to Arlene at 633-7336. We are in need of volunteers to bring either desserts or salads to the dinner, no more than every other month. If you can help and are not already on our list, please call Mike Bartusek at 640-8057.

HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH November 18, 2018 Concert Vocations Prayer Calendar Please pray for our Diocesan Seminarians and Priests. This week s schedule is: Nov 18: Fr. Frank Grinko, OFM, Capuchin Nov 19: Anthony Ambuul, St. Gregory the Great Nov 20: Will Dwayer, Mt. St. Mary s Seminary Nov 21: Retired Priests of the Diocese Nov 22: Fr. We want to give back. With a grateful heart we want, in turn, to bless others. We realize that the blessings we have are not just for our satisfaction, but are given so that we may do good with them. A good steward is one who is grateful, for there the seed of God s grace can grow. Practice gratitude in your life and see if the seed of God s grace does not sprout in you.
