OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) Dear Parishioners, Our sympathy to the family and friends of Joann Lotton, who died and was buried this week. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace. Thank you, again, to all who volunteered (or responded to strong invitations to help), donated, attended, and promoted the Harvest Festival at the Church of St. Peter last week. My personal philosophy of these types of festivals are that they are less about fundraising and everything about celebrating our faith and parish. We will be reviewing the Festival (what went well and what did not) shortly, and if you have anything to share, feel free to share. This weekend, we have the Marathon for Non-Public Education. The Marathon gives a public witness of the school and its value to our parish. I hope that many of us are able to join in this event. Of course, there is a more hidden part of the marathon and that is the service aspect that many families will take part of either this weekend or in the near future. Thank you, JI families, for this witness. Our school continues to be the largest ministry we offer as a parish at the Church of St. Peter, and it continues to be a great investment. Our faculty and staff assist our students in learning the faith and living it out. The Mission statement of John Ireland says it all: "We are a Catholic community welcoming students of all faiths, devoted to Gospel Values, Academic Excellence, and Christian Service." Please keep our process of renewing our vision and mission in your prayers. By this weekend, I will have listened to the staff, the Administrative Councils, and the Area Pastoral Council. We seem to be in agreement as to where we want to be in the year 2020, now it is clearly declaring it and helping us move there. It is going to be challenging for some, easy for others, but in the end will be so worth this effort. In the next few weeks, I will hopefully be including some elements of this in my notes. In Christ, Fr. Todd J. Petersen ============================================================================ WEEKLY SCHEDULE October 2-9, 2016 Sunday, 27 th Ordinary Time October 2 8 AM Mass, Nicollet 10 AM Mass, (+Bob & Gen Boys), St. Peter 10 AM Sunday School 11 AM Marathon 7 PM Lifeteen Monday 8 AM Mass (+Maurice Brown), Chapel 9 AM Adult Bible Study, Family Room Tuesday 8 AM Mass, (+Marty Braunger), Chapel 3 PM JI Choir Rehearsal Wednesday 8 AM Mass, Nicollet 8:15 JIS Prayer Service 10:30 Mass (+Ralph Walter) Benedictine 6:30 PM 1 st Reconciliation Centers 6:30 PM Sanctuary Choir Practice 6:30 PM Grade 2-8 Faith Formation Thursday 8:15 AM JIS Mass (+Mary Lou Erhorn) Church 1-10 PM Eucharistic Adoration, Chapel 3:30 PM Confession, Chapel 6:30 PM RCIA Friday 8 AM Mass (+Germaine Mickey McGuire), Chapel 11:00 PM Midnight Watch Saturday 2:00 PM Bailey Volk & Lucas Schwope Wedding 4 PM Mass (+Parish Family), St. Peter Sunday, 28 th Ordinary Time October 9 8 AM Mass, Nicollet 10 AM Mass, (+Gene Wenner), St. Peter 10 AM Sunday School 11 AM Coffee & Donuts 7 PM Lifeteen Prayer Ministry Please Pray for Heather Giefer and Misty Hamar. Reed believes that the best remedy for what ails both individual Catholics and the Church as a whole is a lively sense of the riches of tradition embodied in the lives of the saints. In his urgent and passionate call to renewal, Fr. Reed profiles twenty saints (two per episode) who, like Catholics today, lived in times of crisis when the way forward was unclear. He derives ways that viewers can begin to revive their faith and revitalize the Church.
