Craig Dear Parishioners, This Sunday after the Noon Mass we are celebrating the Sacrament Anointing of the Sick. If you cannot make it, then please call the office and we will arrange a time for you to receive the sacrament. The Church has a great gift from Jesus called the Anointing of the Sick. Jesus is healer and he is present in the Sacrament. The Sacrament can be received as often as one needs it. It is for those who are seriously ill, those having surgery and those who are elderly. Holy Oil is placed on the forehead and hands. We pray for physical healing and spiritual healing. Many wait until they are dying before they call for a priest. The Sacrament is for those who are ill, not just the dying. It is no longer called Last Rites. The Sacrament is for those who are sick. Please call the church when you or someone in your family is seriously ill. We would be happy to come and celebrate the Sacrament with you. Thursday s Mass for Thanksgiving will be at 9:00am. There will be no Masses on Friday. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. I wish you a great week. Fr. Craig God, who gives us all good gifts and who is the source of every blessing we have, hear our prayer as we gather to give thanks for all that you have set before us. We are grateful not only for the food that graces our table in such abundance, but also for the bond of family and friends, strengthened by the meal we share, and by the warmth of your love that comes to us each day through your benevolent mercy. Help us to use wisely all the gracious gifts you have showered upon us for the benefit of ourselves, our family, and our nation. On this Thanksgiving Day may we acknowledge that every good thing comes to us from you, and may your bounty never cease, so that we may share your blessings with those in need. +Amen. 02 l St. Leo Catholic Church

Please Note: On Friday, Nov. 23, there are no Masses scheduled. The 6:40am and 8:00am Masses are cancelled for this day. St. Leo Christmas Angel Tree Christmas Project Once again this year, St. Leo Parish will participate in the Angel Tree Christmas program. We will provide tags with gift suggestions for children of incarcerated parents. This year, we have double the number of children s names. Tags will be available the weekend of Nov. 24 & 25. Gifts will be distributed at our Angel Tree Christmas Party at St. Leo on Saturday, December 15, from 1:00-3:00pm. The project is promoted by Angel Tree: A Program of Prison Fellowship. Thanks to the volunteers and Religious Education students who are already making party table centerpieces and decorating party craft angels. Due to the overwhelming response last year, only one gift Angel will be available per family. We were able to get more tags this year, so more people will be able to sponsor a child. The tags will contain the child s name, age and a message from the incarcerated parent. There is a $20 limit. We are also accepting monetary donations to help fund the party or buy an extra gifts needed. Volunteers Are Needed to Help Make This Program A Success! 1. Volunteers are needed to make a follow-up phone call to children s caregivers about the December 15 party or home gift delivery 2. Volunteers are needed to distribute gift Angels to parishioners after Masses on November 24 and 25 To be an Angel Elf and volunteer to help prepare and put on our Christmas Project, contact the parish office or Linda at 402-350-1788 or lleary1@cox.net. Good News from St. Pius X/St. Leo School "St. Pius X / St. Leo School is a diverse community forming students in the Catholic faith to excel in academics and service to others." St. Pius X/St. Leo School Hello St. Pius X / St. Leo Community members, We are pleased to announce the names of the 8th grade students who have made Honor Roll for the first quarter of this school year. In order to be placed on the honor roll, the family handbook states the conditions. It says: "If the average of all subjects is 94.5% or above and there are no N's or U's in general conduct, the student will be placed on the First Honor Roll for the quarter. If the average of all of these subjects is 89.5% to 94.4% and there are no N's or U's in general conduct, the student will be placed on the First Honor Roll for the quarter. Students on either Honor Roll receive a special certificate of Academic Achievement in their report card each quarter they are on the Honor Roll." We are thrilled to say that 78% of our 8th grade students made the Honor Roll for the first quarter. In the 8th grade, 41% of students earned a place on the First Honor Roll and 37% on the Second Honor Roll. This is outstanding for the 8th grade students! The 8th grade Honor Roll students are as follows: First Honors: Gracie Brabec, Will Brewster, Aiden Brink, Katie Coppard, Audrey Ehlers, Fifi Farrens, Trevor Gregg, Caleb Hans, Kate Hoppe, Lacee Houghtaling, Zamera Issaka, Kaylee Kaisershot, Preston Leach, Anderson Lopez, Amanda Loschen, Molly McGill, Patrick McMahon, Whitney Meier, Abi Mihulka, Maggie Morris, Katie Peklo, Caitlyn Pierce, Natalie Piskorski, Caroline Sall, Kate Stratman, Peter Sullivan, Cameron Thompson and Sophia Tripp. Second Honors: Wosuk Ando, Manuelli Bakou, Greg Blaine, Kendall Clark, Eamonn Conway, Elliott Conway, Remi Coté, Mathieu Domkpo, Emery Evans, Joseph Hayes, Eleanor Horn, Ben Howard, Lauren Larson, Evan Martin, Anna Mertz, Kate Mertz, Chelsea Okosi, Tyra Onyango, Joey Rieschl, Jasper Sobetski, Wil Strehle, Adrianna Webster, Olivia Weist, Ben Wilson and Andrew Yochum. As you can tell, we have many 8th grade students who are studying very hard both academically and behaviorally! We also know that there are many other 8th graders who are working very hard in those areas, but just didn't quite make the honor roll. We also salute these students! Our thanks to these students for their hard work and to their parents for the wonderful support they provide to their children. It takes everyone working together, the students, their parents and the teachers to succeed with such outstanding academic achievement. Congratulations to all! Get Your Panther Spirit Wear Now! The National Night of Prayer for Life honors Our Blessed Mother and prays through Her intercession for the establishment of a Culture of Life, protection for the Church from persecution, and asks our Lord to Revive Our Land. St. Leo will have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Adoration from 8 PM to Midnight, Saturday the 8th in the main church. Host couples will be present for each hour of the vigil. Pick an hour or just stop in for a few minutes. You may want to come especially during the Hour of Unity, from 11:00pm - 12 Midnight, when we will be united in prayer with churches across our country s 4 time zones for the protection of all life from conception to natural death. The National Night of Prayer for Life is a wonderful way to start your Advent season and help you and your family put the holidays in the proper perspective. A set of mysteries of the Rosary will be prayed at the beginning of each hour followed by silent prayer. 08 l St. Leo Catholic Church

In Pursuit of Life, Love and Happiness By: Deacon Jim Shipman Are you ready! Are you ready for some football? Are you ready to party? That is the call of our society. But are you ready to meet God? That is the message we have today in our scriptures. Liturgical cycle ends with scriptures describing the end times or the second coming of Christ. Many Christian faiths have created their whole doctrine on the end of time. Many have predicted the coming of Jesus based on the signs of the time. None of those predictions have come true so far, but we certainly have reason to believe that the second coming of Christ is true and will happen. The point the Church is trying to make is for each of us to ready ourselves to meet God. To prepare our heart, mind and soul to meet our Lord. In our first reading the prophet Daniel, describes a great time of unsurpassed distress, but those who are wise are found in the book of life. They shall escape and will shine brightly like the stars forever. Those who are not ready will be in everlasting horror and disgrace. Our Gospel from Mark also describes that great tribulation that will come upon the earth, but the Lord will gather his elect to himself. If we are living in God s grace, we have no reason to fear the end of time. That should be a time of great joy for us as followers of Christ. Jesus said, Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away. Are we living in God s word? Are we living as Jesus calls us to do? If the Lord should come right now, are you ready? St. Leo Knights of Columbus Did you know? Since 2009, Knights of Columbus councils helped install over 970 ultrasound machines in pregnancy centers around the world. These machines are central to the Knights lifesaving work, because most pregnant women who have ultrasound will choose life for their babies. Please take time to direct Catholic men that you know to www.kofc.org/ joinus. This allows them to get the information they need to make their personal decision on membership and to join online. Visit our webpage for more information on the Knights of Columbus: www.stleo.net, then click on forms and links tab. Singles 50 s & 60+ Group at St. Leo The 50 s/60+ Singles Group at St. Leo s is a social group of men & women in their 50s & better, single for any reason regardless of religious beliefs.
