President s Message As Vice-President for 2009-2010, I would like to thank the Officers of MECCA #9 for their dedication this past year, and as President for 2010-2011, I am looking forward to working with the new Officers this year. Mike, I know I will be bugging you this year for help and guidance. With the start of the new year I am confident that we will have a great time with the Moose Legion, and come up with some more new ideas to have fun while helping the Moose Fraternity. I am looking forward to visiting the Moose Legions in each Lodge and meet some old and new friends. I am also proud to be part of the MECCA 9 Ritual team this year as Orator and I can see great things happening at Nashville in July. I would like to thank Bob Neff for his wonderful dedication as Orator these past years. I would like also to see as many of you at the Plainfield Moose Lodge on the 2 ND Wednesday of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for our Walleye dinners in support of the Ritual Team. See you there and have a great summer. Remember, our mission is to have fun while providing greater service to the Moose Fraternity, and TO DO SOME GOOD THING FOR SOMEONE EACH DAY. Don Kubilius President of Moose Legion Mecca #9 Vice President s Report Spring is finally here! As much as I love ice fish, I have to admit that Spring and Summer are my two favorite seasons. I am proud to be serving Mecca 9 as Vice-President for the upcoming year. I am truly looking forward to the duties and challenges that this position brings. My main focus this year is MEMBERSHIP PRODUCTION for Mecca 9. We had a good year last year and hope to improve on that. Each of your Moose Legion Committee Chairmen has a list of members who are qualified to become moose legionnaires. If it is not posted, simply ask your Moose Legion Chairman to see it. Chances are good that you will recognize someone on that list. I would like to say congratulations to our newest conferees, Philip Brewer, Ronald M. Lauria, Dale Ver Vynch, Earl Pryor, Stephen M. Rickey, Patrick E. Robinson, Ronald Williams, David F. Bohnenkamp, Michael J. Clesen, William Dedekind, Jerry Godfrey and Francis Freeman. Welcome to Mecca 9. I am sure that we will be having some kind of short term membership campaign or two during the next year. With your help I am sure that they will be a success! Brothers, remember our vision: Persuade all lodge members to join the Moose Legion and do some good thing for someone each day. Gary Kromrey Vice President N E W L O C A T I O N The Walleye Dinner which is held every 2 nd Wednesday of the month is now being held at the PLAINFIELD MOOSE FAMILY CENTER from 5:00 P.M. till 7:30 P.M. The menu consists of Walleye or Chicken Breast. We know they have a GREAT meal now come over and visit with the Ritual Staff.

Davis House to Mossehaven in June. Jr. Past President s Report This year our Moose Legionnaires should be working on RETENTION. This has been one of our problems the past few years. I believe if we work on retaining our Moose Legionnaires the Moose Legion will prosper and also the Moose Lodges will prosper. I believe one of the ways to keep a member active is to have weekly or monthly Functions in our Moose Legion or the Moose Lodge. So please Moose Legion Committees at the Lodges work with your board of officers on activities at the Lodge. Check your Moose Legion D List that Secretary Rich send s out for the dropped members. And also check the Lodge D List to try to get our former members back. Have a fun filled summer. Mike Kovacevich Jr. Past President Mecca 9 Legionnaire is published quarterly by Mecca 9 Moose Legion, 6911 N. Rosemary Lanes, Niles IL 60714, by Richard Kalensky. This publication is sent free of charge to all members of Mecca 9. Non-For Profit, Class Postage Permit # 205

Chaplain s Message With the start of one new Moose Legion year we have new officers. My name is Bob Vodicka. I have been a member of Naperville 1290 for over 40 years. Some of you may remember me as a member of the Naperville Ritual staff. I will be the Chaplain for the coming year for Mecca #9. One of my jobs is the Publicity and Membership committee. I would like one member of each Lodge Moose Legion Committee to contact me to be responsible for communications between Mecca Moose Legion and your Lodge Moose Legion Committee. I would also like this person to keep me informed of any Moose Legion member from their lodge who is sick, disabled or in distress. My e-mail address is rev526@sbcglobal.net. Please do not send a lot of garbage, only things that pertain to Moose Legion. Thank you all and hope to hear from each Lodge Moose Legion committee soon. Bob Vodika Message from the Financial Director Is this weather GREAT or what? I hope you all are getting a chance to enjoy it. I don t know about you but I could take this weather 24/365! Speaking about 365, my main job is the 365 Club. After looking at the rolls, I m pretty sure that we haven t gotten all our Moose Legionnaires involved in this GREAT program. It s only $3.65 per year to belong, that s only a penny a day and even less if you sign upr for 3 years at the low price of $10.00. As I m sure you all know this program is open to all Moose Legionnaires, so let s do what the Moose Legion does best and roll up our sleeves and dig in to get the job done. I know you won t let us down, this GREAT FRATERNITY never does. Every Mecca #9 lodge should have application forms you can fill out and send to our Secretary Rich Kalensky, if you don t please let me know and I will make sure you get some. I thank you and the Graduating Class at Mooseheart thanks you for your efforts to make sure that Mecca #9 can donate $1,000 to the Scholarship Fund for a Graduating Senior. Have a fun safe summer!!!! Rudy Bromund Financial Director Notes from the Fraternal Director To start off the 2010-2011 year, I would personally like to congratulate the newly elected and appointed officers of Mecca #9. Here s to another year of continued success and enjoyment. Thank you to the last year s officers for their dedicated time and efforts as well. I hope all Moose Legionnaires and their families had a wonderful Easter. With the weather now changing for the better, it would be nice to see more members frequently visiting their lodges. What a great opportunity to communicate the Moose Legion to them and the benefits of serving and helping our Children of Mooseheart and our Seniors of Moosehaven. Please check your lodge members rosters to see who is qualified to become a Moose Legionnaire. May 16 th - Organizational Meeting Lockport Moose Lodge Breakfast Buffet- 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Meeting 12:00 p.m. June 27 th Conferral DeKalb Moose Lodge Karl Szeredy Fraternal Director Conferral 11:00 a.m. with lite lunch to follow

From the desk of the Secretary I want to express my appreciation to last year s Board of Director s for the job they did this past year. To the new Board of Director s you will have some big shoes to fill. I know that you will do this with great success. A special THANKS to all who attended our Conferrals and Fundraisers for without your participation our year wouldn t have been as successful. There are some changes taking affect May 1 st, a lot are world changes however here are some that I know you would appreciate a heads up on. 1. Moose Legion Life Membership has been increased from $300.00 to $500.00 2. Transfer Fees is increased from $5.00 to $10.00 3. Acceptance Fee is increased from $25.00 to $50.00 4. The Celebration will now been known as a Conferral 5. Lapel Pins Only one(1) lapel pin is permitted on official regalia. The pin shall be placed through the button hole on the left lapel. The recommended pins are the 25 Club Pin, the Current Membership Campaign Pin or the corresponding Degree Lapel Pin. As of now we do not know the current campaign, but this should stop anyone from signing up new Moose Legionnaires. Make sure that your Governor, Moose Legion Chairman and Administrator attend the Organizational meeting. Retention is a very important part of a successful year, so check with your Moose Legion Chairman for the current lists which are the Expired & Dropped members. Check with your lodge Administrator for the Lodge Expired & Dropped List because a majority of your expired & dropped membership are also expired and dropped in the Moose Legion. Looking forward to seeing all of you at our Conferrals & Fundraisers. Rich Kalensky-Secretary 365 Club Your 365 Membership will be used for a scholarship for one of our students at Mooseheart.
