St. Ambrose Society Special Thanks! Happy New Year! The St. Ambrose Society had a great year with the St. Patrick Center Sandwich Program in 2017. We donated close to 20,000 sandwiches over the course of the year, and recently learned from the staff at St. Patrick Center that we are their largest donor of sandwiches in the St. Louis area. This includes church and non-church based organizations. Thanks so much to all the volunteers and financial donors who make this possible! As a parish this is something we should all be very proud of. Providing food for the homeless is truly living our gospel values. Thanks again for your continued support! SCHOOL NEWS St. Ambrose School s website and Facebook pages are a great way to learn more about all of the exciting experiences happening in our school! Check them out at http://school.stambroseonthehill.com/ The STEM Lab has been a busy place. The middle school has been completing a wide variety of projects and labs. The sixth grade used the lab space to create geologic timelines showing eons, eras, and periods of the geologic history of the Earth. The seventh grade explored how heat moves by completing two labs showing conduction and convection. The 8th grade investigated the presence of carbon dioxide in various air samples. They used the air around us as the control group and then tested the air in a ziploc bag in which they had grown a yeast culture along with the air they exhaled. They added each air sample to a bottle of limewater and observed the limewater turn milky in the presence of carbon dioxide.

An Adult Understanding of the Four Last Things: Heaven, Hell, Judgment, and Purgatory Saturday, January 20 th 10am-12pm Guild Center at Our Lady of the Snows Presenter: Fr. Johan Mark Ettensohn, OMI We are people who are all on the journey of life. Usually one of our biggest questions on this journey centers around just where exactly the journey is leading. Sister may have taught us well in the fifth grade what she knew about life after death, but now we are adults capable of deeper reflection. In the words of St. Paul how might the God who began a good work in you continue to bring it to completion? As adults we can search the Scriptures, the richness of our Catholic tradition, and our understanding of the world for clues as to what we call the last things: death, heaven, hell, judgment, purgatory.
