MISSION STATEMENT Today we celebrate Christ s ascension into heaven and his commissioning of the disciples to carry on his mission in the world. First we hear Luke s description of those events in the opening verses of the Acts of the Apostles. Next we hear words of encouragement and guidance from the Letter to the Ephesians. Finally we hear Mark s account of the Ascension, foretelling the mighty words and acts the Christian community would do in Jesus name. Together these scriptures give us a vision of the mission of the church of Jesus Christ a mission statement of sorts. Like mission statements in our parishes and corporations, this mission statement can help us set priorities and focus our activities. It can guide and support us as we strive to continue Christ s messianic mission on earth. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Parish & Area News I sincerely thank all those who, in any way, helped with the Parish Work Day on Saturday, May 12th. From the people who donated the equipment and the operators, to those who donated the use of their trailers, the pressure washers, chain saws and dirt. Most importantly, Thank You to the men and women who showed up to do the work. Also thank you to the wives who allowed their husbands to take a day away from those honey do lists, and of course, the cooks who took care of our dietary needs. Having only been involved with St. Mark Parish for a short time, it was a great experience to see those who came out to work like a well-oiled machine. Every one asked what needed to be done, and then split in groups and got it done without supervision. It is truly wonderful working with a group of people who take such pride in their church, and work to make it the best it can be. If all work days in the future run as smoothly as this one, it will be a pleasure. Again thanks to all who helped. ~ Paul Braud
