St. Boniface Catholic Parish Sunday, August 12, 2018 http://www.stbonifacewi.org

Thank You and Farewell Dear Friends, I hope everyone is enjoying their last few weeks of summer! There are always nerves that come with the beginning of a new school year. The readings for this Sunday remind us that the Lord is always with us. I especially find solace in the second reading from this Sunday from Paul. He reminds us to be imitators of God and to be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ. This message is so relevant to us today especially with all of the hatred in the world. Christ calls us to spread His love. Christ also tells us to show compassion. Compassion is one of the values that St. Francis of Assisi modeled throughout his life, a personal favorite of mine. How can we show compassion? Compassion is more than just holding the door open for someone or saying Hi as you pass someone. Compassion is reaching down into your heart and really trying to understand where another person is coming from. Then, we must show them kindness, mercy, and justice. I pray that we may all show compassion to one another and spread the love of Christ, especially in today s world. I encourage you to think of ways that you can best be an imitator of God in your own life. Some of you may already have heard, but it is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that this past Friday, August 10, was my last day at St. Boniface. It has truly been a joy to serve you all this past year. I have learned so much from each and every one of you. I know that the Holy Spirit will guide this parish and all of you. If anyone has any interest in being a catechist or an aide in a faith formation classroom this year, please contact Jean Kascht. We need volunteers in both grade school and high school. I wish you all the best of luck in the future, and know that I am praying for you all. Peace and all good, Hannah Bergland, Youth and Young Adult Minister Christian Mothers and Ladies Country Store Calling all bakers, crafters, farmers, and anyone else who can donate items for the Christian Mother's and Ladies Country Store!
