1 Mandeville Republican Women January 2017 Christmas Thank you page 2 Menu for January lunch page 2 Photos from Christmas Membership Tea ( copy only) pages 6-7 MRW Lunch Beau Chêne Country Club January 5, 2017 Reservation Dec. 29, 2016 Minutes from the November are not in the e newsletter this month, 2017 Officers Serving MRW President- Linda Begue 1st VP- Michelle Pichon 2nd VP- Lynn Pablovich Treasurer- Norma Richard Melissa Henry (R), St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court, to be Featured Speaker at MRW Ms. Henry spoke to us when campaigning. Now as she serves our parish, she will update us on where the Parish stands on several important issues Linda Begue, MRW President It s not just a new year. It s a new era! It s not just optimism. It s expectation! It s not just excitement. It s enthusiasm! You can hear it in voices. You can see it on faces! No longer will I awaken to the Saturday morning news hearing what the President did TO my country yesterday. Now I awaken to the Daily morning news hearing what the President Elect did FOR my country yesterday. What a difference two little words can make. I wanted change. I prayed for change. I got change. I thank God for this wonderful gift! Merry Christmas and Happy New Era! Recording Secretary- Sharon Bostwick Corresponding. Secretary- Carol Sobolewski Many committee post still need to be filled. Look in the yearbook and decide which job will interest you!
2 Page 2 many thanks to bobby bonnoitt FROM MRW HOSPITAL- ITY.. Three large bags of unwrapped children s books were donated by our members to St. Tammany Project Christmas. Thank you, Mary Jenks, for selling tickets for the Natchez Pilgrimage Tours drawing. MRW member Freddie Bellard was our winner! Thanks to the amazing Hospitality Committee...AGAIN! Wishing everyone had a very Merry Christmas and wishing all a New Year filled with good things! Luncheon Menu for MRW January 5, 2017 Social: 11:00 am./meeting 11:30 am. 3 A clear and decisive, broad based victory. The best explanation of why the Founders had unbelievable wisdom in designing the Electoral College. It also illustrates that the Democratic Party does not represent the country, just the heavily populated east and west coast mega cities which are out of touch with the vast majority of the country. Page 3 There are 3,141 counties in the United States. Trump won 3,084 of them. Clinton won 57. ********************************** There are 62 counties in New York State. Trump won 46 of them. Clinton won 16. ********************************** Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes. In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton only won 4 of these counties, Trump won Richmond) Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country. These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles. The United States is comprised of 3, 797,000 square miles. When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those that encompass a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election Mandeville Republican Women Membership It is now time to renew your MRW Membership for If you were unable to attend the December Annual Christmas Tea, contact Lynn Pablovich. Membership fee is $35.00; Associate Membership is $ Lynn Pablovich will get you the membership form to have correct information for the 2017 directory.
