1 Jerry Tegels Grand Knight Jason Follet Deputy Grand Knight July 2009 Letter from the Grand Knight Jerry Tegels Brother Knights, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. The Officer s Installation Mass and Dinner was held in July and it went very well. Thanks to our Chaplain, Father Steve, our Chancellor, Deacon Jerry Barnwell, District Deputy Chuck Beard and District Warden Joe Henkel for helping make the Officer Installation a success. The Summerfest Parade and Picnic were a great success. Thanks to the organizers, the parade participants and helpers, the picnic attendees and helpers, Don Brown s band, Use of Time, and to anyone else who helped in any way. It looks like the momentum for these events will continue into next year. A couple of big events we have coming up are the OLIH Parish Picnic on Sunday, September 13th, and the Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PID), aka, the Tootsie Roll Drive. Again this year, we will be doing the grilling for the parish picnic, and will need a number of Knights to help with this. is Sunday, August 16th, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. If you would like to help at the State Fair, please contact the PID co-chairs, John Gaspari and Jason Follett. Our biggest manpower need of the year is the PID drive at the local grocery stores, which will occur on the weekend of September 18, 19 and 20. All of the Store Captains are getting organized, and you should have received an or a letter pertaining to the PID drive within the past week. In order to save the captains a lot of calling time, please contact one of them to set up a time. With school starting soon, let s offer a prayer for a safe and productive school year. 2 Letter from the Chaplain FATHER STEVE ORR Brother Knights, For those of us whose lives center on the school calendar, it is hard to believe that August is already here and the normal activities will be starting up in just a few days. I hope that the summer has provided some good rest and relaxation for you. Thanks to the Knights for the Summerfest picnic, which drew a nice crowd. With the installation of the officers at the July Mass, we thank John Gaspari for his leadership this past year and promise Jerry Tegels our support and prayers for the coming year. I know it will be another great year of fraternity, charity and commitment to Christ among the Knights and their families. Let us always keep each other in prayer, especially those with special cares and concerns in their lives. Football Frenzy 2009 Football Frenzy Highlights: Tickets can be obtained for a $10 donation each to the Iowa State Council of the Knights of Columbus.

Prizes are awarded weekly to the ticket holders with the 4 teams that score the most or the least number of points.

5 Football Frenzy 2009 Football Frenzy Highlights: Tickets can be obtained for a $10 donation each to the Iowa State Council of the Knights of Columbus. Tickets are valid for 10 weeks of the football season from November 1, 2009 to January 3, Prizes are awarded weekly to the ticket holders with the 4 teams that score the most or the least number of points. These 4-team totals are called the Highest 4-Team Totals and the Lowest 4-Team Totals. The prizes for these winners are listed on the tickets. $850 will be paid to the ticket holders with the Highest and the Lowest 4-Team totals each week. There are 10 winners each week. TOTAL PRIZES will be $8,500! Winners are notified and paid automatically each week. You can check results online at Jason Folllet will be accepting donations for the Football Frenzy 2009 tickets at the August, September, and October dinner meetings.
